Trump in October: "This will rapidly drive prices down [ ... ] It'll also bring your grocery bill way down." Trump now: "It's hard to bring things down once they're up. You know, it's very hard."

Trump is right that it's very hard to achieve across-the-board price reductions. Curbing inflation is only a matter of slowing the rate of price increases " actual economy-wide price drops typically don't happen outside of a massive economic downturn.

We told you idiots this over and over and over and over...

But instead, you stupid f*&^s believed this nonsense:

Nevertheless, Trump repeatedly told voters during the campaign that electing him president would cause prices to tumble.

"Prices will come down," Trump said during a rally in August. "You just watch: They'll come down, and they'll come down fast, not only with insurance, with everything."

"We will end inflation and make America affordable again, and we're going to get the prices down, we have to get them down," Trump said at a rally in September. "It's too much. Groceries, cars, everything. We're going to get the prices down."

"We will cut your taxes and inflation, slash your prices, raise your wages and bring thousands of factories back to America," Trump said at a Georgia rally in October, reciting a line he used in speeches at several other events.

Trump also specifically promised to get gas prices down: "I will cut your energy prices in half within 12 months."

JD Vance:

"So again, we have to ask ourselves, do we want a president who broke the economy, broke the border, broke your wallets or do we want a president who has already fixed it and will fix it again."

Trump now: "Nuh uh suckers!"

You f*&^ing idiots are so stupid and gullible you shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Well, did they at least keep the uppity colored woman out of the White's House?

The most common line for the next four years here will be:

"Show me where Lewzer said he was going to do that! He didn't! He just said they were looking into it!"

Pres-elect Trump runs the risk of over-promising and under-delivering.

over-promising and under-delivering.

So, the same as his first term?

@#7 ... So, the same as his first term? ...

That's the way it is looking.

How many "Infrastructure Weeks" did we have during his first term? Seven? Eight? Nine? Nothing happened.

It wasn't until Pres Biden's administration that a much-needed Infrastructure Bill was passed.

Sadly, since infrastructure work takes time, a lot of the benefits of Pres Biden's work to get the bill enacted won't be seen for years.

One-half of Americans are just too stupid to live.

Why not beg Donald for a few hamburgers, MAGA? At least for next year's holidays.

He will LOVE your begging. You want him to feel good, don't you?

Surprise!

It's not against the law to lie to voters during an election.

That falls right into the bailiwick of Donald Trump who has been a pathological liar all his life.

As KKKarl Rove once remarked during the Obama/Romney campaign, Republican voters are stupid.

Biden's fault.

There's precedent for price controls, particularly in an emergency like we were in during 2021. Biden could and should have pushed for price controls, price gouging was (and is) rampant and nobody in government did anything about it, or even made a serious attempt. In the early 1970s, even Rethuglicans were involved in regulating prices. Today even Democrats are so far right-wing that they won't even try.

High food prices are an easily solvable problem, and we know how to do it. Forcibly lower them.

To me, he had seemed like a more benign, if crazily narcissistic, Macy's Thanksgiving Day balloon of a figure in the New York real estate days. Why was the former pro-choice Democrat going down such a dark and authoritarian path as a candidate?
"I guess," Trump mused, "because of the fact that I immediately went to No. 1, and I said, Why don't I keep the same thing going?'"
Trump can play it round or square, pro-choice or anti-abortion, pro-TikTok or anti-TikTok, pro-crypto or anti-crypto. He has no philosophy, except: What's in it for him? The only thread of continuity in his life is self-interest. He supercharged and retrofitted the Republican Party for his own benefit.

Trump won for one reason alone. His voters want a Rottweiler to rip the face off D.C.

Trump is literally incapable of telling the truth about anything. He's always been a snake oil salesman, and millions of gullible fools decided they wanted to give snake oil another chance.

OK, two songs just came up on the playlist here. Both seem apropos ...

The first is from way back when Pink Floyd was more of a "soundtrack" band for movies ...

Pink Floyd - Childhood's End (1972)
www.youtube.com

Lyrics excerpt ...

genius.com

...
You shout in your sleep
Perhaps the price is just too steep
Is your conscience at rest
If once put to the test?
You awake with a start
To just the beating of your heart
Just one man beneath the sky
Just two ears, just two eyes

[Verse 2]
You set sail across the sea
Of long past thoughts and memories
Childhood's end, your fantasies
Merge with harsh realities
And then as the sail is hoist
You find your eyes are growing moist
And all the fears never voiced
Say you have to make your final choice
...

Yeah, those older Pink Floyd soundtrack tunes were quite great, and, unfortunately, mostly unappreciated.

And this one ...

Strawbs - Benedictus (1972)
www.youtube.com

Lyrics excerpt ...

genius.com

...
The wanderer has far to go
Humble must he constant be
Where the paths of wisdom
Distant is the shadow of the setting sun
Bless the daytime, bless the night
Bless the sun which gives us light
Bless the thunder, bless the rain
Bless all those who cause us pain

Yellow stars may guide the way
All diversions lead astray
While his resolution holds
Fortune and good will will surely follow him
Bless the free man, bless the slave
Bless the hero in his grave
Bless the soldier, bless the saint
Bless all those whose hearts grow faint
...
