A California man who gave his indoor cats raw milk believing it was healthier saw two of the cats die and another hospitalized because the milk contained the bird flu virus. "It's horrible when you realize that you're the one that actually gave them the milk that killed them," said Joseph Journell of San Bernardino. The milk from Raw Farm in Fresno has been recalled by the state.

Can't feeding cats milk of any kind result in diarrhea?

Cats are lactose intolerant.

Odd that consuming food or drink that has not been heated to kill pathogens would cause illness.

Unfortunately, his cats suffered for his poor decision-making ability.

He didn't, his cats (who were under his care) did.

Next, some of you will be telling mothers they need to cook their breast milk prior to giving it to their babies.

Re #8

At least they aren't telling young mothers to just put a little bleach in it and it will be fine.

Louis Pasteur was a radical left wing Democrat who just wanted more government regulations to take away your freedom so I just hope all right wing MAGAts will drink their raw milk every day.

And why is it that humans have been sucking raw milk from a teat since humans were a thing and no one dies from it? Because of hygiene. You cant have a milk cow stand in ---- for hours in a holding lot waiting to be milked. Then slap a vacuum hose on her and pump it all into a tank and think everything is going to be ok.

There's nothing wrong with raw milk if the animals and equipment are handled properly, something factory farms don't want to be bothered with as it's just cheaper to sterilize the product while killing other beneficial things in it. It also extends the shelf life.

Queen Elizabeth demanded raw milk daily and she lived to be 102 years of age.

Raw animal milk is not the same as breastfeeding from a human, dude.

"There's nothing wrong with raw milk if the animals and equipment are handled properly ... "

Your claims have no basis in science.

And there you have it "if ... handled properly".

How can you personally be sure that raw milk is handled properly? You do not have the power and respect (or fear) that a queen has (even tho you may act like one).

And you comparing human breast milk to cows milk is hilarious.

Human breast milk is "designed" for humans with ingredients specific to humans and can be consumed right from the human breast. Which leaves very little opportunity for contamination (unless the woman is very unhygienic or a junkie) . Cows milk has numerous opportunities to become contaminated and unless cows milk is fortified it does not even contain what human babies need to thrive and grow and develop strong immune systems.

And no adults "need" to even drink cows milk. Raw or otherwise. Adults can get their nutrition from other sources. It's a choice. So if you choose to gamble with your health and drink raw milk have fun with that.

"Raw and pasteurized milk are comparable in their nutrient contents. While raw milk is more natural and may contain more antimicrobials, its many health claims aren't evidence-based and don't outweigh potential risks like severe infections caused by harmful bacteria such as Salmonella, E. coli, and Listeria."

It's not a risk I am willing to take. Raw milk does not provide anything that I need that I can't get elsewhere at no risk.

I'd guess Queen Elizabeth's milk came from a very small and exclusive herd of milk cows tested for diseases very regularly which is not true for most milk cows, therefore the Queen did safely drink raw milk but that doesn't prove that raw milk is safe....unless you're a MAGA Reoublican in which case I hope you get as much as you want.

Many family dairy farms do test for diseases regularly and more and more of them insert electronic devices that are the size of two and a half C batteries that they place in dairy cows stomachs that measure for things like body temperature amongst other things. Yes there are risks with drinking raw milk. You have to weigh the risks and the rewards if you want to consume it like everything else.

I can't find a reputable source stating that she drank raw milk. I can verified consumption of milk she drank was in her tea, and there was no reference on whether that milk was raw or pasteurized.

I recall my uncle giving the barn cats a squirt when he was milking the cow. He would put a little in a glass for us as well. Rich, creamy and so warm, just seconds from the cow to me.
