The world faces an "economic nuclear winter" if President Trump doesn't immediately pause his sweeping reciprocal tariffs, hedge fund manager Bill Ackman said Sunday night. Why it matters: The billionaire Ackman, a staunch Trump supporter, put the market's fears about the fate of the global economy in the starkest terms possible. What they're saying: "The President has an opportunity on Monday to call a time out and have the time to execute on fixing an unfair tariff system. Alternatively, we are heading for a self-induced, economic nuclear winter, and we should start hunkering down," Ackman wrote in a lengthy post to X.

Ackman warns of "economic nuclear winter"

AI says:

Donald Trump has reportedly asked advisors multiple times why the U.S. couldn't use nuclear weapons, particularly during discussions about foreign policy and military strategy. His comments have raised concerns about his views on nuclear weapons and their potential use in conflicts.
So I guess it's a good thing we don't have one of those wussy nuclearphope presidents.

Blast from the past....

"Ann Coulter Calls Donald Trump 'Abjectly Stupid'

In an interview on Andrew Sullivan's Dishcast on November 5, Coulter said she knew what Trump's character was like before he was elected but supported him anyway because of his immigration policy and pledge to build the wall on the southern U.S. border.

"I was well familiar with what a narcissistic, ridiculous, tacky, vulgar, arriviste this guy was," she told Sullivan.

"That I knew about. The one thing I underestimated, in fact, did not see at all is, I had no idea how abjectly stupid the man is."

"In May 2020, she called Trump "the most disloyal actual ------ that has ever set foot in the Oval Office..." Excerpts

It's not like rwingers weren't warned, even by their own.

(arriviste

Larry Fink says most CEOs he talks to think U.S. is in a recession
www.bnnbloomberg.ca

... BlackRock Inc. Chief Executive Officer Larry Fink said most CEOs he talks to think the U.S. is in a recession, warning that stock markets could decline further as U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff policies destabilize the world economy.

"The economy is weakening as we speak," Fink, 72, said in an interview Monday at the Economic Club of New York, adding that he foresees more of an economic slowdown in the coming months.

Inflation is likely to be elevated, Fink said, casting doubt on the Federal Reserve cutting rates multiple times this year. As an example of worries spiking, Fink said he's already heard from airline executives about the decline in travel demand.

"Most CEOs I talk to would say we are probably in a recession right now," Fink said. ...

#8: The ruling oligarchs are publicly kvetching. Meh. Instead, the ruling class should put their billions where their mouths are and donate their ill-gotten gains to the non-AIPAC members of the Democratic Party to sweep out the Republikuds from Congress in 2026 and the White House in 2028. Otherwise, "We the people" do NOT want to hear their grousing. "We the people" have more pressing concerns like finding affordable housing, health-care workers for our elderly parents, finding gainful employment after being cut by DOGE, or buying nutritious food without needing a PayPal loan.
