White House Proposes Eliminating Head Start Funding in Sweeping Budget Cuts
The Trump administration is asking Congress to eliminate funding for Head Start, a move that would cut early education for more than half a million of the nation's neediest children and child care for their families.

"The Head Start program had already been hit this year by layoffs and funding lags, along with a glitch this winter that briefly locked preschool providers out of their federal accounts.
The private and public schools that run Head Start classrooms are deeply reliant on federal money, and this year's funding problems have caused some preschools to close temporarily.
Those closures cut off child care for hundreds of thousands of low-income families, for whom a day without work is often a day without pay."
'
"The National Head Start Association said it was "deeply alarmed" by the administration's proposal to stop funding the six-decade-old program.
"It reflects a divestment in our future," said Yasmina Vinci, executive director of the NHSA, in a statement Thursday.
"Eliminating funding for Head Start would be catastrophic. It would be a direct attack on our nation's most at-risk children, their well-being, and their families."
;;
Republicans could save more money by deporting these children directly to El Salvador... aka Phase Two.

America needs sweatshop workers and military recruits.
Education must be eliminated. As well as child labor laws.
Let's make America great again!

Anything that benefits regular people. Head Start, the National Parks, Medicare,SS, Medicaid.
Must be eliminated.
Why?
Only the top 1% in income are actually Full Citizens?
Only their interests matter?
???
What other reasons are driving this?
Economic Growth? That's BS.

Trump: "We are cancelling Head Start funding because I and my cabinet members have thoroughly proven that you don't need to be educated past a preschool level in order to achieve success in life by being elected or appointed to the highest offices of the land."

Head Start has proven to provide ZERO long term educational benefits. It is a make-work daycare program only and education is not the focus.

It is a bit of column A, and a bit of column B. Toss in drug/alcohol addiction too.
Also, as I said before, you can't whine about a 'living wage' AND support illegal immigration and free trade.

Lessee, what pray tell is the value of the opinion of a traitor to his country?
Less than nada.
-whine about a 'living wage'
You gotta love low middle income 'Muricans who think they are wealthy enough to look down on working people as, "whiners".
Their abject servitude to the Oligarchs who bought Trump for Pres this year would be nauseating were it not so common.

This is a great way to encourage women to have more children as reporting indicates that the Trump administration wants to do.

Let's make it more simple - do you think mass illegal immigration raises or lowers income for people in the bottom 20% of income for US citizens?
Think real hard - maybe channel the Democrats from 20 years ago.

Birthrates for US citizens will result in a collapse eventually. You have 2 choices:
1.) Encourage more births from US citizens - you do this if you love your own people 2.) Import more foreigners - you do this if you hate your own people

Unemployment remains low. Mexican immigrants can't do many of the available jobs but they are hired to do less technical jobs Americans don't want to do. Right now only a few miles from here tomatoes are rotting in the field. Citrus growers can't get their trees picked.

... and as I noted in a previous comment...
Back when I was a kid, my parents used to drive to New Jersey farms[1] to get vine-ripened tomatoes.
There is nothing that tastes like a vine ripened tomato.
1- yeah, we drove over the Outerbridge Crossing to get to New Jersey. It was a bridge named after Eugenius Harvey Outerbridge.
They couldn't, with a straight face, call it the Outerbridge Bridge. So, they came up with then name Outerbridge Crossing.
But, in hindsight, the moniker Outerbridge Bridge may have been fun. :)

Neither.
Minimum wage remains low because republicans fight increasing wages as if their very lives depend upon it.
They use the same excuse, every time.
"Raising minimum wage will increase prices."
What they really mean is, wealthy people will raise prices in order to offset paying their employees more.
Getting rid of undocumented immigrants won't cause their employers to increase wages, "Not without increasing prices."

Head Start has proven to provide ZERO long term educational benefits. It is a make-work daycare program only and education is not the focus
This is what the research indicates by third grade you don't know which students were in the program or not, some times this is wiped out be first grade.
Which makes GasLighter wonder perhaps the problem is something else.

Of course it does, mass immigration in general destroys the stability that previously existed, in many dimensions, some of them are for the good.

Again what is the advantage of being a US citizen?
Anyone have any good responses to this, for the average person?
Why do citizens of other countries, that have entered the US illegally, have more overall freedom than US citizens?

Interesting response from a current alias that I did not ask the question to.
Of course, the next question seems to be, why does the oneironaut current alias seem to find the need to respond to and clean up for questions that were not directed to it?

You were shipped in and used as slave labor.
Unlike the black population that the whites couldn't get rid of.
The Chinese were driven out of the country and into Mexico.
