I was hoping to come to the comments to see balanced conversations, or at least some comments with logic. But, alas, it's just not possible on DR.
I think it's freaking hilarious that if you were to get rid of any partisan language at all, the detractors of this would seem Republic and the supporters would see Dem. The billions involved in the fluoride industry and the buddy-buddy system used to determine which companies profit from adding it to the water due to the government forcing it is right out of the Republican handbook...yet here we are, liberals doing everything they can to protect big business hypocritically because partisan politics is much more important to most of you than actually clinging to your principles.
Try to deny it. I can probably do 5 minutes of research on DR alone that would yield hundreds of examples of liberals demonizing every single legislation passed by Reps that mandate something and calling out the profits made by the companies who benefit from the mandates. Liberals didn't believe their own hypocrisy when Biden started mandating EV and EV infrastructure, mostly just ignoring how much money liberal-owned businesses were standing to make from the mandates. But here is another shining example that you can't deny.
But, going down the illogical rabbit hole liberals tend to go to when you call out their hypocrisy and they can't do anything to deny it, the most obvious rebuttal will be that liberals only do it when it's morally right...such as ensuring people get what they need for healthy teeth. But, the easy response to that is simple, you are FORCING it on people. You are removing freedoms from people because you feel it should be forced on them. Just like when Reps FORCE liberals to not be able to get abortions. You liberals whine and cry about that and say how it's the woman's body and the government shouldn't be able to control it. Well, welcome to inconvenient reality...it's my body so you forcing me to ingest something I don't want to ingest means you are trying to control my body.
Then, even more down the rabbit hole, liberals can say "Well, you can always drink bottled water and not be forced to drink the fluoride in tap water." Which is a double whammy on your side since 1) that also caters to big business and 2) that disproportionately negatively impacts lower income people.
So, please, enlighten us how this entire article and your viewpoint isn't the EXACT same thing Reps do. But because it is a Rep who supports it, you all of a sudden don't. Not because of any logic or principles, no. It's solely because your ego must be stroked at all costs and you can't stand when someone doesn't agree with everything you say and do.
Thus, saying your actions are not what is best for America is more accurate than any argument you have given so far. And this isn't an indictment of just Dems, this is both sides. It's just that this example is a shining one that exposes how bad partisan sheep are for this country.
