... It is not unusual for weeks to pass before FEMA approves a declaration. President Donald Trump has pointed to these waits as a reason he is considering dismantling the agency, calling FEMA "very bureaucratic" and "very slow."

The wait offers a glimpse of what could be in store for communities around the country as the summer storm season arrives and FEMA is mired in turmoil. States including Kentucky, Missouri and Oklahoma have already been battered with tornadoes this week, setting the stage for more disaster requests to FEMA. And the Atlantic hurricane season is just around the corner.

FEMA is able to respond quite effectively in many ways, but "getting the resources to those communities after the fact has been slowed," said Susan Cutter, a Carolina Distinguished Professor of Geography at the University of South Carolina and co-director of the Hazards Vulnerability & Resilience Institute.

In coming disasters, Cutter said ,she anticipates seeing slower progress in getting needed resources to communities in a timely manner. ...

@#3

Yeah, in the past there have been response issues with FEMA, but in the end, they also came through.

Post-DOGE will FEMA have the wherewithal to come through for Americans during the current severe storm season, and then, later, into the hurricane season?

Time will tell.

Remember when Donny Two Dolls was lying about Biden not sending help to NC after Helene that led to FEMA agents being targeted by feral magats?

Why are no democrats out in front of these issues now?

OK
KY
MS
KS
AND NORTH CAROLINA who was told they get nothing else when they asked for additional help to recover.

This is why the democrats lose.

will FEMA have the wherewithal to come through for Americans

Read project 2025 and you tell me.

It is spelled out that FEMA should be killed in it.

Along with National Weather Service and here we had 27 fatalities and residents that survived said the warnings came too late and we see that the NWS storm prediction center in KY was one of the offices targeted for firings under DOGE.

This should be #1 agenda every single day.

This is turning out to be a perfect example of the rot in our society.

These folks voted for this but still expect to receive aid when they want it. Selfishness and short-sighted stupidity are so rampant, it took less than six months after an administration gutted these services for red states to start whining about the lack of assistance.

Most of these idiots will probably tell you with a straight face that this is a Chreestian country..

" Mississippi's request for federal aid is still pending before the Federal Emergency Management Agency"

Sorry, MS, but you voted to axe FEMA. Just ask Dotard; he'll tell you.

How does it feel to wake up in Pottersville?
