The Trump regime had been saying that the exporting country, e.g., China, would pay for the Trump tariffs.
Now that the results of those tariffs seem to be reaching consumers, the Trump regime seems to be changing its tune, now saying that US retailers should absorb the tariff costs.
While that directive may work, though likely not, for huge retailers like Walmart, what about the millions of small businesses in the US who were not able to stock up to help mitigate the results of the Trump beautiful tariffs?

It didn't take a rocket scientist to see this coming from a thousand miles away. It is basic finance and accounting. Someone is paying that extra. It isn't the company. And it ALWAYS lands on the consumer. I'm trying to figure out if the Fanta Fascist deliberatly misguided folks. If he is really this ignorant that he didn't know this would happen. If most Americans are this ignorant that they didn't understand they would be eating this. So many people warned and warned and warned that THIS would be the outcome of tariffs. And still Mango Mussolini thought starting a trade war would be a grand thing. The US economy is the worst it has been in decades. Thanks Donnie Dump But most folks with 2 brain cells to rub together could see this coming. Companies are not going to eat this. They are there for profits.

So you pay a tariff, an add-on fee, to a company that has produced that thing with non union labor in china, and life goes on. Has anyone noticed American manufacturing heading back to our shores? It was the ridiculous Republican Party of the Republican Nixon that "opened china to the west" exactly to do what happened, kill the power of American unions and make a fortune for the investor class. Trump is not going to stop that gravy train any time soon.

Aside from Canadian lumber, Home Depot doesn't strike me as a major importer.

It won't work for anyone unless they want to go out of business. Even though they claimed they weren't looking at it, Amazon was supposedly going to add a tariff surcharge to items to show you the tariff impact. Walmart will increase prices trump threats or not. They just may be sneaky about it. As for others... We announced price increases and that is almost everyone in our industry except for the ones falsely claiming "Made in America". Legally speaking I know it doesn't meet the definition as the Raw materials are not produced in the USA.

It's like the woman whose face was ripped off by the leopard she voted for trying to claim it was a different animal that ripped her face off. Better than admitting she was a fool for voting for the face eating leopard in the first place.

So why would you believe ANY company? They all donate to political parties, and support various agendas?
Why not just wait to see what happens instead of speculation?

What I wonder is what will happen to Harbor Freight.

I don't think you know what that word means; corporations declaring what their plans are isn't 'speculation'.
S'riously, hit that ESL book again.

China pays the tariffs. All these companies need to eat the cost. That's what president dementia Donald says. Oh look, he thinks Bruce Springsteen, 3 years younger than him, has bad skin.

#17 Sure, because the CEO is a GOP donor they won't raise their prices? Hmmm, interesting that their stock hasn't tanked if their costs have risen considerably. I won't explain it to you.

That is the level of sycophancy we are currently in, yes.
But we'll see how the board reacts to that, won't we?

It is fun to watch liberals squirm in their own hypocrisy. Trump has literally forced them to decide whether they want cheap products or they want good labor laws for workers. Either they want jobs in America which will provide the protections American workers are privileged to have or they want kinds in China working 12 hour days, adults living in bunk beds in tiny rooms with very limited freedoms (even contractually stating as such), etc. etc.
Is it as bad as the media makes it out to be? No. Is it proportionally bad? It definitely is. These things are happening. There is plenty of evidence to prove it and the only evidence China provides otherwise are just documents with no actual tangible evidence.
The products will either have to be made in America or other countries that offer all of the entitlements and privileges liberals fight for for workers which incurs the higher costs, or liberals are just being hypocrites and only care about workers near them and don't care about workers who make their cheap products.
Generally speaking, the liberal responses to the situation has already illustrated which they choose, and it isn't the workers.

Trump is not offering good labor laws for workers. Republicans consistently oppose any worker protections.

#23 It's actually advanced stages TDS. It doesn't matter what Trump does, it's bad. Liberals are digging themselves deeper everyday, no ideas, no new policy, no answers. Just no Trump. Now their press are fleeing trying to cover up their covering of Biden's incompetence by saying the Biden Administration told them he was fine.

Liberals didn't move the factories to China. That was all done by Capitalists. Capitalists want kids in China working 12 hour days because it's cheaper. Liberals aren't even part of the decision making process.

It's pretty special how Republicans look at higher prices due to added taxes, and declare they're winning.

Its also pretty special how Democrats look at higher prices due to added taxes, and declare they're losing.
More corporate taxes were always going to raise prices, everyone knows this, even Republicans, no different than Democrats.
Its comical to watch American politics flip flop on every issue.

Democrats have never wanted more economic burden on the working class. Republicans always want more economic burden on the middle class.

LOL that's the entire crux of the argument.
Multitudes of other companies are saying they will have to raise prices.
You're clinging to the one standout claiming it's reflective of the coming reality.
BTW do you really need to be told that prices will increase?

What's hilarious is watching you cram everything into you low hanging fruit, stupid a*& hypocrisy argument.
Trump has done no such thing, nor does one have to accept poorly thought out and executed tariffs or poor labor conditions overseas. In your attempt to force a logical fallacy strawman you yourself are committing the only logical fallacy in the argument.

Hey idiot, two three things.
1. anybody who says TDS is a farking moron. 2. almost everything Trump does is bad because almost everything Trump does is for the benefit of Trump. 3. his trade war nonsense is objectively bad.
You should take it as a sign that your clinging to Home Depot as the only true reality in contrast to the umpteen others as a clear sign that you're not clearly assessing reality. You're slobbering on Trump's nuts because you're a gullible buffoon.
