Thomas Fugate, who has no apparent management or anti-terrorism experience, replaced an Army veteran with more than two decades of national security experience who resigned in March when the administration began cutting his staff.

More: The White House appointed Fugate, a former Trump campaign worker who interned at the hard-right Heritage Foundation, to a Homeland Security role that was expanded to include the Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships. Known as CP3, the office has led nationwide efforts to prevent hate-fueled attacks, school shootings and other forms of targeted violence.

Fugate's appointment is the latest shock for an office that has been decimated since President Donald Trump returned to the White House and began remaking national security to give it a laser focus on immigration.

"the office has led nationwide efforts to prevent hate-fueled attacks, school shootings and other forms of targeted violence."

I would love to know what their Key Performance Indicators are!

Dotard Trumpf recently rendered an imbecilic commencement address to the newly-minted 22-year-old Second Lieutenants of the US Army at West Point. Appointing the inexperience lickspittle Thomas "Fascist" Fugate (22) to this position at DHS is tantamount to assigning one of those Second Lieutenants to lead a US Army division.

In 2020, the Democratic Party had a mandate to run the country, yet they frittered away their incumbency in 2024 because of their blind loyalty to AIPAC. No wonder Karine Jean-Pierre left the Democratic Party.

Now look what we have.

How has it come to this? How could we possibly think this kid is qualified to lead the nations counter-terror efforts??

How has it come to this?

Trump has no intention of combating domestic terrorism, thems his people, so he hired somebody that won't be able to get anything accomplished.

I wish I could wrap my head around the thought process for hiring someone so young and naive with no world experience and no relevant work experience to an office SO Important.

It's like injecting crops with rot then wondering aloud about what made them all rot.

It's just like why he hires a wrestle lady to choke out our Education Dept

But how does he not see the down side?

When there is another domestic terroir attack, it will rightfully fall at the feet of this idiot and his complete lack any meaningful experience.

God, I can't even type that without sighing. No, he'll successfully blame someone or something else

The domestic terrorists are mostly the militias, the Oath Keepers, the Proud Boys, white supremacist biker gangs... all people that Trump pardoned for trying to overthrow our election in 2021. Maybe Nazi Steve will tell this young grad to focus on Antifa or some other invisible/tiny target, he'll have them bring up BS charges against people just like he's been doing with what he calls "immigration"

All his appointments are Loyalists he is sure will lie for him when necessary, and break the law for him they have to. He was determined not to have another fiasco like when his entire DOJ said they would resign rather than break the law for him.

Once burned, twice shy.

It's not really hard to figure out; ask yourself, "what would Putin want me to do?"
There's your answer.

I guess mowing neighbors' lawns is enough to quality someone to prevent us from domestic terrorism.

Ex-gardener? Where's Rudy Giuliani? He can be the press officer; he already knows how to speak with a landscaping outfit as a front.

@#6 ... Ex-gardener? ...

From what I've seen, his "landscaping" business was mowing neighbors' lawns.

SCOTUS just decided to permit DOGE access to Social Security and no accountability..

@#11 ... SCOTUS just decided to permit DOGE access to Social Security and no accountability.. ...

My concern is that the access provided, but the apparent "no accountability" aspect.

DOGE apparently has shown itself to be one of the least transparent part of Pres Trump's operations.

That is my main concern.

And, if I must say, that raised eyebrow in his photo is telling of the poser attitude he seems to be taking.

Observed differently, the kid who may have been mowing the lawn here a couple three years ago, now raises an eyebrow, and becomes a person protecting me from domestic terrorism threats?

Is this appointment better or worse than Sec Hegseth's appointment?
