I used dial-up back in the 1970's when the bit rate was 300bps.
Yeah, 300bps. It took three seconds to print a full line of text.
My company paid for a second phone line to my house so that I could work from home.
1970's.
During the late 1970's, the 300bps increased to 1200bps for those lucky enough to have a 1200bps modem.
But circa the 1990's, I switched from dial-up to DSL.
And then in the early 2000's I switched to cable-provided Internet service.
Now I have 400mbps service, I could go up to 2gbps, but I don't need that level of service.
A bit of a change from the old 300bps dialup service I started out on decades ago.
And, fwiw, I terminated that second phone line to my house a couple decades ao.
