Canada and Australia fought with us in Afghanistan.
Canada and Mexico helped extract us from the ------- of OPEC... republicl0wns keep putting us back and lining their pockets.

All three countries have had relationships with the rest of the world since the rest of the world traveled to them centuries ago... and managed to exist... regardless of our status

The US blew off the Trans-Pacific Partnership a decade ago because of Trumpanzee... ergo... the US reliability is questionable... so who gives a flippin frappe about what we think anymore?

9/11 we were attacked... and lost the war against our attackers... in fact... sold our largest red state oil refinery to those who financed our attackers...

What are we supposed to be defending them against?

On one hand, this sends a terrible message that engaging in certain types of tactics will be rewarded with statehood. On the other hand, Netanyahu and his government pretty much made this inevitable with their own tactics. I would say a pox on all extremists' houses, except they're already poxed.

I was listening to the French representative outline why recognition was necessary, and a key part of that recognition is the elimination of Hamas and other groups devoted to the destruction of Israel. The logic in my mind was still a bit far-fetched IMO. It would rely on armed Palestinian forces to disarm and dissolve the Hamas organization. I would put the Palestinian authority in charge of Gaza, but the Palestinian Authority doesn't seem to be very popular or competent, and I don't know how many Gazans are ready to make peace with their Israeli neighbors.

I'm still not a total believer, but the blueprint makes a lot of sense if you can build something with it.
