Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

President Donald Trump has begun the demolition of facade the East Wing of the White House to make way for his Mar-a-Lago-inspired ballroom, walking back his earlier assurance that the expansion would not touch the existing structure, the Washington Post reports. Crews with backhoes were seen tearing into the East Wing on Monday, in full view of staff from the United States Secret Service, according to the Post. Trump, who has repeatedly promoted a 90,000squarefoot addition to the Executive Mansion, once assured on camera: "It won't interfere with the current building. It won't be. It'll be near it but not touching it " and pays total respect to the existing building, which I'm the biggest fan of." Yet the visible demolition makes clear the project will directly impact the historic fabric of the presidency's residence.

$172 million so Noem can have two private jets.
$200 million to build Trump a ballroom.
$40 billion to bail out Argentina"for a MAGA billionaire.

But no bailout for soybean farmers crushed by tariffs.
No support for families drowning in grocery prices.
No help for anyone who can't find a job.

People should take a look at the damage. It visually expresses who he is and the hurt he does to all of us.

This ballroom Trump is constructing----

Is an abomination.

It's going to be torn down after the man is dead.

He'll have to raid Ft Knox to guild the Ballroom like his office and his homes.

AC loves him some gold... and what it represents:

Look I get all you Lumpers are upset about Trumps "expansion" of the White House, that is being 100% funded by donations.

But why do you have no interest in the $1.6 billion expansion of Gavin Newsoms California Capitol that is 100% taxpayer funded and 100% cloaked in NDA's and cronyism?

The "White House Windbag" doesn't give two cents about us and acts like he's never leaving power.

On Tuesday 5 Nov 2024, 49.8% of eligible American voters elected a selfish pedophilic xenophobic sociopath who dodged the draft and never worked a day in his life to be "Leader of the Free World." The cultists in MAGA have not only hurt themselves irreparably, but us as well. And worst, these voters will keep electing Republican monsters because of racism.

Why is Trump so interested in redesigning the White House when it's just temporary residence?

Trump seems to be much better at tearing down walls than he is at getting Mexico to pay for building them.

If you conceptualize Trump as a rabid dog, then what that slavering cur is doing to the White House is pissing on it to make it his.

Being deadly serious here.

Quite the appropriate summary, imo.

Exactly. Wait until he paints the exterior gold.

Wow. The Capital Building is an office building, the White House is a house. Imagine not knowing the difference.

Pres Trump seems to be more concerned about the future "Trump Ballroom" than the future Trump legacy.

The Capital Building is an office building, the White House is a house.

It's "Capitol Building". The White House is just as much an "office building".

Yes, but I was referring to the "Capital building" as in the one in California, in #5.

Monroes - What Do All The People Know (1982)

Lyrics excerpt ...

...
[Verse]
You know I told you once tonight
That you could always speak your mind
You work so hard to say what's right

I watch you do it all the time
And when I called you on the phone
You said that I could be the one
But here I'm standin' all alone
And you're out lyin' in the sun

[Chorus]
Tell me, am I getting in too deep?
Every night I'm talkin' in my sleep
Lately, I am so confused
I really don't know what to do

Agreed.

A shame it seemed to have been relegated to college radio, though.
