A UPS plane was reported to have crashed in Louisville, Kentucky, and injuries were reported, officials said Tuesday. "UPS has been notified of an incident/accident involving one of our aircraft in Louisville, KY," UPS Airlines said on X. It said it would provide details as they became available.

Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Matthew Sanders said injuries have been reported and the agency has received multiple calls for service.

A shelter-in-place order has also been issued in a five-mile radius around the airport, according to a LENSAlert message issued around 5:30 p.m. The public is advised to avoid the area.

While the port side engine was engulfed in flames, the plane reached V1. In this situation, V1, the plane is commanded/piloted to get airborne (no stoppy on runway), though it may not, and in this case it didn't get too far.

The pilot is hoping for a go around.

The governor says at least three dead and 11 injured, with that number expected to rise. I could see the smoke blowing over my house. Awful.

Looks like an engine came off on takeoff and the debris trashed the other one. That's never good.
