Predictions of threats?

They've been threatening us all along.

Donald Trump himself threatens us with something virtually every day.

If this were World War II, then I'd say that we are in teh second phase. The one where the allies are hitting back hard, but the issue is still in doubt.

Someone said, in relationship to the current fascism, that they were "scared to be brave" when opposing it.

I well understand.

But it's endure a little fear now, or endure years of intense horror for years as Trump and his kleptofascists consolidate power.

This is why things probably won't improve even after Trump chokes on his Big Mac.

The base is out and comfortable with their status as giant pieces of s*&^ and will continue to elect people willing to shred the constitution and resort to violence on their own level to force their views on the rest of us.

This dissatisfaction with how things are going and how little the congress critters pay attention to their constituents has been going on for decades. Deep displeasure with the rich donors getting what they want while ignoring the public that politicians need to stay in power.

Add to it in those same decades, the inflammatory rhetoric that has been used by both parties, has not helped the public. Compromise to get things done is now pretty much a dirty word. When the political body does not do for the public what they were elected for, it breeds ill will and this has had decades to simmer.

One more thing to put in the mix. The younger generations are seeing they can't achieve the American Dream. The deck is stacked against them. They feel they've been lied to and are the generations that will never achieve what their grandparents had. No matter how hard they work, no matter how hard they save, they can't reach the same standard of living. That too inspires hate and ill will. At some point it comes to a head and public figures are what they see to blame for it all.

"The younger generations are seeing they can't achieve the American Dream. The deck is stacked against them."

I saw this when I was in the "younger generation."

Boomers simply had to get on the elevator, and it lifted them up.

That America drew its last breath, somewhere between Nixon and Reagan.

Since 1975, practically all the gains in household income have gone to the top 20% of households.

"In 1975, Baby Boomers (born 1946-1964) were generally between 11 and 29 years old, with the average Boomer being around 19 or 20, as most births were in the earlier part of the boom, making them roughly teens and young adults just entering adulthood or college.

The support for the Vietnam War was undermined by the Antiwar Peace Movement.

"The statement that the support for the Vietnam War was undermined by the Peace Movement is widely considered historically accurate, although public opinion was influenced by a variety of intertwined factors. The anti-war movement significantly contributed to the erosion of public and political support, leading to the eventual U.S. withdrawal and the end of the draft."

Right, so they joined the workforce at 18 or 23, and for the next forty years they didn't do anything to stop the hollowing out of the middle class. Instead, they profited from it.

Soooo.... hippies were responsible that in 1975?

Perhaps you are overlooking the continuous increase of the factors that actually started that trend, eh?

Like the economic boom of the 80's Reaganomics which was powered by borrowing against the National Debt and gave us Recessions.

Not everyone became Jerry Rubin as you seem to think, and I know it's nice to have others to blame, and certainly you yourself would still be driving a VW Beetle today had you been there.

Not everyone Sold Out and became Suits, many did because they had to; it was that or starve. This idea that your Gen is/was less greedy? That's ridiculous. Or maybe you just mean you.

You are ignoring that the economic direction was already set in 1975, as you originally noted, and you prefer to blame the People rather that the Elites who set and maintained that direction after they got the scare of the People actually running the show when they ran the Elite's man Nixon out of Office.

But like Kristofferson, not the Stones, said, 'everybody needs somebody to look down on'.

Of course, this may be a classic projection on your part, as presumably yours is the Gen known as, "Corporate Warriors":

www.google.com

But hey, you were forced into it by Boomers, right? No choice at all. Just playthings of circumstance.

"Yes, there's a common narrative, especially from Millennials and Gen Z, that blames Baby Boomers (born ~1946-1964) for major societal issues like wealth inequality, high housing costs, student debt, and political gridlock, stemming from Boomers benefiting from post-war economic booms, better social programs, and holding onto power/wealth, while simultaneously dismissing younger generations' struggles (e.g., "avocado toast" comments).

However, many argue this is an oversimplification, pointing to powerful policymakers, lobbyists, and the ultra-rich as bigger culprits, suggesting it's a generational scapegoating that ignores systemic issues and benefits a few, not all Boomers."

Eberly, am I known for being an independent, results-oriented, adaptable multitasker who values work-life balance and results over process?

I'll also accept Boaz's answer!

More to the point, Corky, do any of the attributes you generously ascribed to me be the cause of stagnating wages for the bottom 80% of households for the past half century?

Boomers did not build a better world for their children.

Obviously not all Boomers did -- or rather didn't -- have a hand in that.

But on the whole, Boomers were the last and generation to have it good throughout their entire working years.

Boomers were as much at the leash of their Elite masters as were and are any Gen since the founding of America. At the very least we fought back for Peace in 'Nam and ran Nixon out of Office as I originally noted... which is a lot more than Gens since have done

But scapegoating each other is nonsense, and that's what I called you on. Deny it all you wish, blame whomever makes you feel better, but those are the facts.

But there's a Boomer in the White House right now.

How'd that happen?

Age Breakdown
Ages 50-64:
Trump received 56% of votes.
Harris garnered 43%.
Ages 65 and older:
The candidates were nearly tied, with both receiving 49% of the votes.

"Not everyone Sold Out and became Suits"

Still, Boomers got while the getting was good.

The actual complaint isn't that Boomers cashed in.

It's that they didn't prime the pump for the future generations to come.

The only ones capable of priming any pumps were the Elite... whom apparently are immune from your scapegoating.

And the non-human in the WH now is there because the Elite put him there; they bought just enough votes to do so, and would have paid more had it required more.
