Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Friday, December 19, 2025

Signs of strain are emerging for President Donald Trump, even among supporters who once backed him without hesitation. On Runaway Country, host Alex Wagner highlighted a moment from a congressional hearing that underscored the growing sense of regret, featuring a veteran who said he deeply regretted voting for Trump after his wife " who had lived in the United States for decades " was arrested by ICE. "Why did you vote for him?" a member of Congress asked. "Because I was an idiot," the veteran replied. "Evangelical Christian people were lied to, if you really want to know the truth. And that's exactly what happened." He said he believed deportations would only target criminals, but instead his wife " someone devoted to serving others " was detained. "My wife and I, when we don't work, we're ministers. We help the needy. That's what we do. And that's who they're arresting."

Do the journalists ever ask the useful idiots like the minister in this story:

"So, will you vote for any Republican candidate in any future election, whether it's county, city, state, special election for a judge, or federal?"

So he was with Trump until Trump effed-up his life? Hey, buddy, it's Trump, take a number. Back of the line. Can't live with them, can't live without them. Poor me! So sad!! Thank you for your service.

Years ago I seem to remember reading about a colorful character named "Regret" in a Damon Runyan short story ("A Piece of Pie").

Anyways, I'm tired of reading about people who regretted voting for a good-for-nothing wealthy racist draft-dodging slob who has bankrupted our country financially, morally, politically, and legally.

LOL.

Funny how I know no one who "regretted" voting for Trump. And I'm surrounded by some people who did vote for Trump. None of them I know say they regretted anything.

If anything, I'm hearing "This is what I voted for". I think Democrats are trying to set the environment where everyone thinks a blue wave is coming, just like every election of the last 10 years.
