Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

"I have determined that, for the Good of our Country, especially in these very troubled and dangerous times, our Military Budget for the year 2027 should not be $1 Trillion Dollars, but rather $1.5 Trillion. This will allow us to build the 'Dream Military' that we have long been entitled to."

Trump wants to boost the U.S. military budget from the already record ~$1 trillion per year to $1.5 trillion. (He says it can be done while paying down debt, which is not based in mathematical reality: national debt has risen by ~$2 trillion since Trump was sworn in a year ago.)

If Trump gets what he wants, America's military budget would be equivalent to the 17th-largest economy in the world, smack in between the U.S's fellow democratic backsliding allies Turkey and Indonesia

One of the expenses needed is to replace all the munitions given to Ukraine, Israel, etc., these past number of years.

GOOGLE AI Overview
Administrative Problems May Hinder US Military Ammunition ...
Yes, U.S. military munitions stockpiles are significantly depleted, especially for certain items like artillery shells, air defense missiles, and anti-tank weapons, due to high consumption in conflicts like Ukraine and Israel, faster than the slow-paced industrial base can replenish them, creating a major concern for national security readiness for large-scale, high-intensity wars. The U.S. defense industry struggled to meet demand, leading to long wait times and a focus on boosting production capacity

Why? How many weapons does Trump need to take on military world powers like Venezuela, Colombia, or Mexico?

Putin's Beach is about to turn the country over to Russia anyway. And Trump certainly isn't going to war with China after they buy him off for a couple billion.

The Pentagon should get no money, nada, till they actually complete an accounting for the military spending they've failed to do for years.

Pigs, trough, gorge.

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.

"This will allow us to build the 'Dream Military' that we have long been entitled to and, more importantly, that will keep us SAFE and SECURE, regardless of foe," Trump said on social media on Wednesday.

In separate posts, the president said he would crack down on payouts to bosses and shareholders of major US defence contractors unless the firms speed up deliveries of armaments and build new manufacturing plants."

""

"Shares in major US defence equipment makers Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Raytheon rose by more than 5% in extended trading in New York trade after Trump made the announcements.

Economists have previously warned that the gap between US spending and its income has reached unsustainable levels."

Thanks, Trumpers!!

But no way can we have some kind of health care for all.

Good thing we have an almost 40 trillion dollar surplus in our country to pay for that.

Oh wait that is the National Debt... My mistake.

You forgot Ukraine, China, and Russia, don't forget NATO.

...How stupid are you?

Your own article explains our artillary shell production was cut in half by the Orange Pedo's Tariffs. We couldn't get a lot of the components we rely on from other countries suddenly.

Also we aren't "down on artillary rounds." We simply aren't producing as many or have capacity to produce as many as perhaps we should.

You know, so you can put them in storage and let them expire only to be replaced again for twice the price.

Close the hundreds of US military bases in other countries.

Let other countries build a non-US defense budget.

Neutrality hadn't been real for decades. The rule of Acts of War are muddied. There hasn't been a declaration of war since '41.

Two parties have made the MIC. When one party shuts it all down and keeps it home, they'll be believable of not warmongering.

Eisenhower was right.

So was Washington.

"The great rule of conduct for us in regard to foreign nations is in extending our commercial relations, to have with them as little political connection as possible. So far as we have already formed engagements, let them be fulfilled with perfect good faith. Here let us stop. Our detached and distant situation invites and enables us to pursue a different course ... "

No wonder Trump has gone bankrupt 6 times!
