Recording artist Bad Bunny will command one of America's biggest stages this Sunday when he is poised to make history as the first Super Bowl halftime headliner to sing primarily in Spanish.

The only thing I'm rooting for in this Super Bowl is that Bad Bunny performs in an adult version of Liam Ramos' bunny hat.

More from the article ...

... Bad Bunny, 31, whose full name is Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, was born and raised in Puerto Rico. His first album, "X 100PRE" (pronounced "por siempre" meaning "forever"), came out in 2018. His songs blend Latin trap and reggaeton with pop, rock and classic Puerto Rican styles including salsa, bomba and plena. Since his debut, he has skyrocketed to global stardom, dominating charts and obliterating streaming records. ...

Historically, Latin artists have sung in English as a way to increase their audience. Artists like Shakira and Ricky Martin began recording in Spanish and later turned to English.

Before music went online, one had to navigate record stores. "You had to go find the Latin section, which was teeny, teeny, teeny, tiny," said Leila Cobo, a chief content officer at Billboard.

"That's why people were recording in English, you know, so that they could get into the main sections," she said.

Even more recent popular Spanish-language songs such as "Gasolina" and "Despacito" brought in U.S. sounds and artists, Diaz said. "Despacito' also had a remix with Justin Bieber and was a very different kind of sound. It was very pop-ified " not like Bad Bunny's music."

Bad Bunny took a different route to success on the U.S. pop charts. He does "not conform to what it means to be seen as palatable to a white American mainstream audience," Diaz said.

Diaz said Bad Bunny's connection to his cultural heritage resonates with fans, even though many come from different backgrounds. In his most recent album, "DeB TiRAR MS FOToS" (I should have taken more photos), he sings about resisting the loss and displacement driven by gentrification in Puerto Rico and clinging to his homeland as it was.

"That's a global concept. We have a homeland, we have a heritage, we have a love for that, we have an appreciation for that, and no one wants that to be lost," said Diaz. ...

imo, that is a very significant observation.

As a summer college job, I worked in a department store. Yeah, the non-English areas of the record department were quite minimal. If I had to guess, I'd say, maybe only 5% of the space devoted to English music. If that much.

But, with streaming, that bias no longer seems to be present.

But, in streaming, that anti-English bias does not seem to exist.

So, a major step forward in the world of music.

...
Some folks are built like this
Some folks are built like that
But the way I'm built
Now, don't you call me fat

Because I'm built for comfort
I ain't built for speed, no, no, no
But I got everything
That a good woman needs

Some folks they rip and run
Some folks just heave and sigh
But to love me, baby
You just got to take your time

'Cause I'm built for comfort
I ain't built for speed, no, no, no
But I got everything
That a good woman needs

Music is universal magic.

Indeed.

Music is considered a universal language because it exists in every known human culture, transcending linguistic barriers to communicate shared emotions like love, mourning, and joy.

I remember reading about "music" in the old encyclopedia Britannca. (The actual books made of paper.)

It described music as "the thing itself". Been trying to figure out what that meant ever since! Haven't figured it out but I have really enjoyed the research.

Besides humans, parrots are the only other living creatures that enjoy dancing to music.

Bad Bunny is a joke. Jay Z pulled him from obscurity to see how many leftists he could con into pretending that they had ever heard of him.

Turns out it was all of them.

I don't know who he is.

I don't care.

I think people like you are such pathetic pieces of s*&^ I only paid attention to the issue so I could laugh at you.

What little bit I saw of the TPUSA "show" was what I expected from something pandering to MAGA-classess, poorly executed and tacky in a cheap way because y'all are so gullible and stupid you fall for it no matter what.
