I think FEMA is a good idea because catastrophic disasters often span multiple states or are so overwhelming that local/state government are unable to provide safety to their citizens.

Some of these disasters are so catastrophic that even Feds/state/local governments still can't provide safety for their citizens (Katrina).

As flawed as FEMA may be, it's better to have it than to not.

But.

It's mostly blue (populated) states that are paying and mostly red states that are taking.

Red states are threatening FEMA workers who put their own safety at risk to help them. Eff those people, let 'em suffer or die.

Republicans are denying blue states FEMA aid, funneling even more resources from blue states to red states.

The intention has been completely lost and FEMA is just another Republican scam.

So let's get rid of it. States can take care of themselves, and those that can't, fuck 'em.
