Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

In a letter issued earlier this week, FEMA officials reaffirmed the denial of IA funding which would have provided financial support and direct services to eligible individuals and households who have sustained uninsured or underinsured losses due to damage caused by tornadoes. FEMA also denied funding through the HMGP, which supports projects that help communities reduce future disaster risks and strengthen long-term resilience. On March 6, four tornadoes with intensities ranging from EF-0 to EF-3 impacted southern Lower Michigan. Communities near Edwardsburg, Cass County, in and around the city of Three Rivers, St. Joseph County, and along the north side of Union Lake in Union City, Branch County, were among the hardest hit.

Denying federal aid to Michigan that underwent tornado damage earlier this year while thousands of her residents are suffering from Trumpf Diarrhea Syndrome (TDS) is a brilliant strategy to employ during this midterm election year.

I think FEMA is a good idea because catastrophic disasters often span multiple states or are so overwhelming that local/state government are unable to provide safety to their citizens.

Some of these disasters are so catastrophic that even Feds/state/local governments still can't provide safety for their citizens (Katrina).

As flawed as FEMA may be, it's better to have it than to not.

But.

It's mostly blue (populated) states that are paying and mostly red states that are taking.

Red states are threatening FEMA workers who put their own safety at risk to help them. Eff those people, let 'em suffer or die.

Republicans are denying blue states FEMA aid, funneling even more resources from blue states to red states.

The intention has been completely lost and FEMA is just another Republican scam.

So let's get rid of it. States can take care of themselves, and those that can't, ---- 'em.

So what is the federal government going to do when states STOP sending in any tax dollars for them to mismanage, Keeping that money at home, in their own state, helping their own people?
We send in that money, BANKING on it being there to help in a time of need,
Yet we know how that goes with this administration,
Thats just fun money for their enjoyment to BLOW

It is one thing to have an enemy across the ocean who one fears, it is quite another to have one such person sitting as the leader of one's own country. Frightening times, incompetence leading the way in all spheres of governance.

First, if you decide not to insure your property, why should the government be paying you to replace it?

Second, If you decide not to pay for enough coverage... See above

Jesus wept.

The government does not pay full REPLACEMENT costs. They only pay to make the home function safe or sanitary.

Most people are under insured or private insurance is now out of reach financially or has completely withdrawn from high-risk areas due to climate change

So it's for public safety, humanitarian necessity, economic stabilization, or plain old fashioned market failure.

Or maybe just ask Floridians. They know all about it.

But thanks for reminding us how much of a cruel despicable and uncaring human you are at the misfortune of others.
