"Republicans Want Someone Younger Than Trump as President"

So... the states of Alaska or Hawaii? Or maybe the U.S. Interstate Highway System?

If that's what you want, then get him to gracefully drop out,

Face it, If elected Trump will die in office, and be a gibbering dementia prior to that.

Say hello to President Vance. Unless Trump appoints one of his own kids after Vance is put out of the way.

If "republicans" wanted someone younger than Trump, then why did they nominate Trump?

#3 | Posted by ChiefTutMoses at 2024-08-01 04:23 PM

CHIEF

Trump destroys lives and careers of anybody who opposes him.

#4 | Posted by Twinpac at 2024-08-01 04:54 PM

Is this what motivated the repug who shot at dotard in Pennsylvania?

#5 | Posted by reinheitsgebot at 2024-08-01 04:57 PM

Oh, republicans didn't have a choice I guess

And who's fault is that?

@#3 ... If "republicans" wanted someone younger than Trump, then why did they nominate Trump? ...

That's an interesting question.

... a majority of Republican voters have said they would prefer a president who is younger than the 78-year-old former commander-in-chief ...

Maybe they nominated Trump because, at the time of the RNC, it was Trump vs Biden, and they thought Biden was weaker?

Of course, Pres Biden then pulled an awesome strategic move, dropping out after the RNC convention that nominated Trump/Vance.

And now the GOP is still trying to figure out how to handle that.

Biden was the reference.

Weaker or not, Biden was older, and in rapid cognitive decline, the world knew this.

#10 | Posted by oneironaut at 2024-08-01 07:37 PM

I think Trump drops out, having already been coronated by the GOP drones, Biden should suspend the election for two years

Wouldn't that be a hoot

#11 | Posted by ChiefTutMoses at 2024-08-01 07:55 PM

Biden seemed cognitive enough when getting Americans released and flaming Trump

HaHa

#12 | Posted by ChiefTutMoses at 2024-08-01 07:58 PM

Biden was the reference?
That makes absolutely no sense

A reference to what? The younger republicans they could have made their official nominee against an old Biden

In other words you can understand, was Biden more old with Trump?

Never mind. You are an idiot

#13 | Posted by ChiefTutMoses at 2024-08-01 08:03 PM

@#13 ... A reference to what? ...

A reference to the then Democratic presumed ticket of Biden/Harris.

Pres Biden did a strategic end-run around the GOP by waiting until after the RNC Convention had announced Trump/Vance before he announced his stepping down.

... You are an idiot ...

Why, thank-you. I always appreciate those ad hominem attacks.

#14 | Posted by LampLighter at 2024-08-01 08:23 PM

I bet it ain't John Doe Vance they want instead, lmao!

Who's running Qanon these days?

They should be the rightful Fuehrer in Waiting... I mean what with Alex and Steve in Prison and Rudy G homeless.

Lamplighter, you totally missed the context and who said what.
In this particular instance, you called yourself an idiot.

@#16 ... In this particular instance, you called yourself an idiot. ...

OK, I'm listening.

I readily admit that I came into this thread late.

I saw the "You are an idiot" appellation and thanked the alias for hurling it at me.

So, please explain my misunderstanding.

thx.

For starters, many thanks for the follow-up comment.

But, yes, I think Pres Biden was a reference.

And that is, and has been my point.

For the RNC, Pres Biden was the Democratic Pres presumptive nominee.

And, for the RNC, the Republicans acted in response to that scenario. To their now chaos in responding to the results of it.

And, continuing in my opinion, in doing so, the Republicans fell for, hook, line and sinker, Pres Biden's strategy of waiting until after the RNC to announce his stepping down.

As a result of that major blunder by the GOP strategists, we now seem to have a Democratic presumptive nominee, VP Harris. One which seems to have caught the GOP strategists off-guard. (aside: if they cannot seem to handle this type of strategic assault, how well will they do if they win the Oval Office?)

We also seem to have a Trump campaign that has been out-maneuvered by Pres Biden, and now seems to be struggling (almost humorously at times) in their response to current events.

I have to say Trump's whining about Kamala has been most delicious.

I wonder if Trump's going to survive until November? He is unhinged and paranoid. It just seems like he's going to blow a gasket. I'm not saying I want to see that happen. I want to see him lose badly to a black asian woman, and then spectacularly melt down.

#20 | Posted by YAV at 2024-08-01 10:48 PM

@#20 ... I have to say Trump's whining about Kamala has been most delicious. ,,,

Yeah, the Trump campaign appears to have been caught totally off-guard regarding Pres Biden choosing to drop out of the campaign after the RNC convention.

I mean, Totally Off Guard.

So, that leads me to ask...

If the folk advising fmr Pres Trump were able to be hoodwinked to such an extent by Pres Biden in this fashion... how might those advisors fare against those entities who may not view the United States in a favorable light?

Or will fmr Pres Trump continue his cozying up to the autocrats and dictators of the world?

#21 | Posted by LampLighter at 2024-08-01 11:11 PM

It's pretty funny that "senile" Biden got the best of Trump AGAIN.

doesn't say much about trump's cognitive abilities.

#22 | Posted by Alexandrite at 2024-08-01 11:15 PM

"Weaker or not, Biden was older, and in rapid cognitive decline, the world knew this."

He had a bad debate moment but the world still trusted his leadership.....Trump not so ,much! U.S. exit NATO? That's crazy talk!

#23 | Posted by danni at 2024-08-01 11:29 PM

@#22 ... It's pretty funny that "senile" Biden got the best of Trump AGAIN. ...

Yup.

But that leads me to ask, WTF is the issue with the Trump campaign?

I mean, if I saw that coming, why didn't the Trump campaign see that coming?

And, by extension, what does that say about the people fmr Pres Trump would want to surround himself with, should he have the opportunity to occupy the Oval Office once again?

Would he select such strategic-ignorant people because his goal seems to be surrounding himself with anal-pore-kissing toadies who express a loyalty to him and not the Constitution?

#24 | Posted by LampLighter at 2024-08-02 12:07 AM

They had plenty of chances and opted for supine surrender.

#25 | Posted by Doc_Sarvis at 2024-08-02 06:39 AM

"I mean, if I saw that coming, why didn't the Trump campaign see that coming?"

The campaign staff often reflects the candidate. Often, the staff is composed of people the candidate thinks aren't quite as smart as he/she estimates themselves to be. They're also eager to keep their paychecks coming, so candor in advice depends on the candidate's capacity for thinking outside of themselves.

So the answer to the question could be: Trump.

#26 | Posted by Doc_Sarvis at 2024-08-02 06:42 AM

Trump's putting pictures of Kamala with her Indian mother dressed in traditional clothing from India as proof she wasn't "black." He's tripling down on his ignorance and has his campaign following him. He just can't figure out this "bi-racial" thing at all. This is a gift to the Democrats. May they use it to maximum effect. As a New York voter said, in utter seriousness when questioned on it, in 2016, "Open a phone book. Pick a name. Any name. Any one of them would be a better president than Donald Trump."

Shoulda thought of that before the convention. Are they stuck with the lounger lover at the top of the ticket if Il Douche' pulls up lame?

#30 | Posted by morris at 2024-08-03 01:55 AM

Yep... a 20-year-old republicl0wn taking shots at him from the rooftop should have been the first clue that the kids aren't on board.

#31 | Posted by RightisTrite at 2024-08-03 03:59 AM

The ex-Dotard-in-Chief was lucky the kid taking the shot at him in Butler PA wasn't Kyle Rittenhouse-- he probably wouldn't have missed.

#33 | Posted by RightisTrite at 2024-08-03 06:09 AM

The Trump campaign is barely putting forth the effort any more. They don't have a counter-punch for Kakila Harris.

Trump is telling people not to vote because he already has more votes than he needs.

That sounds to me like Trump is putting all his faith in another "Hail Mary" backup plan to coerce election officials in swing states to refuse to certify a Harris win.

Also,

As we speak, there are still cases winding their way through the legal system to have Harris removed from the ballot. So far, none have been successful, but the Trump campaign attorneys are still in there swinging.

Imagine having two old uncles: one dictatorial, bossy, vulgar, dishonest, stingy, loud, narcissistic, faultfinding and critical of everyone and everything, prone to strange fits of rage, a groper of women and a lover of evil people, ... and nuts; the other, smiling, generally upbeat, quiet but able to keep track of the big picture even if prone to forgetting your name occasionally, and who could be silenced by forgetting a the question you asked him 50 seconds ago, but whose heart was always in the right place.

If you could afford to avoid only one of them and had to put up with the other every day for the next 5 years, which would you prefer to live with?

Easy question, right?

#35 | Posted by Augustine at 2024-08-04 04:05 AM

Why "5 years?"

The GOP made Trump their de facto nominee back in April, nearly 9 months before Inauguration Day 2025. And they stuck with that choice at their convention, knowing that if he got elected, he'd be in their living room every day at least until Inauguration Day 2029, when he'd still be a weird, creepy, crazy, angry, hostile 83 year old bossy geezer, who'd probably continue to refuse to leave your living room for another quarter year or more.

Which nominating party off its rocker?

Trump fatigue was killing me.

Everyday it was something new that he said or did that was a national embarrassment.
