Republicans Bracing for Damaging Story on North Carolina Governor Candidate

Republicans in North Carolina were bracing Thursday for what some anticipated would be a damaging CNN story on Mark Robinson, the Republican nominee for governor in North Carolina...

More from the cited article...

... Even if Robinson were to withdraw from the governor's race Thursday, it is probably too late to remove his name from the ballot, because absentee ballots have already been printed, said Karen Brinson Bell, who leads the State Board of Elections.

An additional complication, she said, is that overseas and military ballots are scheduled to go out Friday, as required by federal law. It would take about two weeks and cost more than $1 million to reprint ballots, Bell said.

"As the chief election officer, I know where we are in this process," Bell said. "To remove a name from the ballot at this time would be an insurmountable hurdle." ...

"for the sake of Donald Trump's victory in North Carolina, I think Mark Robinson needs to drop out"

Given that MAGA is already so viciously infradig, I can't wait to hear what this new scandal could be.

How many dogs and cats did Mark Robinson eat?

Boaz is going to vote for Mark Robinson, twice.

#3 | Posted by ClownShack at 2024-09-19 03:01 PM

Robinson has had "TRAIN WRECK" stenciled across his forehead for quite some time. He's gawd fearing, seems to like money a lot, takes naturally to the grift, and displays all manner of sex-related phobias and hangups. Plus he appears to be stark, raving mad. So if there's anything to this it could be a doozy.

#1,

Our sate supreme court in NC is a wing of the republican party and even though the state BOE objected to removing RFK at the very last minute the court made them. Don't be surprised if they don't care what the BOE says.

#5 | Posted by qcp at 2024-09-19 03:09 PM

@#5 ... Don't be surprised if they don't care what the BOE says. ...

I do not disagree.

My view at this point is that the Trump campaign, and its surrogates, are planning to toss as much confusion and delay into the tallying of votes on Election Day that the outcome may be handed to the House for resolution.

Trump has praised him on the campaign trail, including recently at an rally last month in Asheboro, North Carolina.

"Good luck. Mark's got to win. He's got to win. Got to win. He's a good man," Trump added.

And in March, in a speech at the National Rifle Association conference, Trump called Robinson "Dr. Martin Luther King on steroids."

"That's how good you are. You are unbelievable as a speaker," Trump said of Robinson. "And he got up and he's doing fantastically well in North Carolina. And I think he's going to be the next governor of North Carolina."

Oh, that ain't good.

Every Democrat on the ballot in North Carolina from Harris on down should make the stunning lack of character and the full on arrogance and hypocrisy of Robinson the main differentiator between the two parties. And for Harris, she needs to combine Trump's criminality and misogyny with Robinson's perversity as the reason North Carolinians should reject all the other GOP candidates supporting the two of them.

You are the company you keep. Drill it in.

With Rev. Dr. Barber in-state, I can't wait to see the final push towards election day with him quoting scripture on the evil both Trump and Robinson exemplify.

As I've noted before, if Harris wins North Carolina, she can lose Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada yet still win the Electoral College. The GOP seems to obsess about Georgia and they're heading toward losing NC, leaving Trump no path to 271.

Well baby, when I was young of age

At this point, I have to note that Pres Biden was quite (extremely?) adamant that he would not be dropping out.

That is, until he did.

Pres Biden seemed to wait strategically until after the Republican Convention to announce he was dropping out.

Apparently, much to the dismay of the GOP who had put into place a VP candidate who has proved to be, well, at this point I'll be kind and just say, quite weak.
