President-elect Trump and future first lady Melania Trump paid their respects to former President Jimmy Carter at his funeral in Woodley Park, Washington, D.C., on Thursday, where Trump and one of his most prominent political foes appeared to put politics aside.

I didnt read it like that.

What I saw was the current people who are running the White House while Biden is demented hated Trump. They ignored him. Like a woman who didn't get her way would.

Obama, Gore and others had the respect to say hello and engage in conversation.

I can only imagine how pissed Harris is having to listen to actual Presidents talk behind her and realize she will never be one. Even her cuck husband wanted to turn around and talk with both of those Presidents.

I think that I'd give him a last meal priorto execution and access to clergy, to whom he could brag about his sinless life.

I'd also give him pencil and paper to write farewell notes to those he loves. That would be a very short list. I imagine any letters written would be all caps.

No national honors following his demise. Laying his body in state in the Capitol would be crass and insulting.

Donald has threatened to arrest at least four of the people sitting close to him at that funeral, and tried to get another one of them killed.

This makes you value the graciousness of Obama even more, as one of the people on that list.

I once shook Bill Clinton's hand. I had mixed feelings at the time when they asked for volunteers to greet him on the tarmac. But when it happened I decided it was a historic opportunity for me and that while I didn't agree with everything Clinton stood for it turns out I wanted to shake his hand anyway. He was basically a good man. And after all he was The President. It took me all day to craft a short sentence to say to him. But when it happened all I could think of was "Thank You Mr President!" Power does that to you.

After witnessing the effects of maga and Trumpy ... and being older and wiser ... (and not so in awe of power any more) ... and given the same opportunity with Trump I just would spit on the ground and turn and walk away.

One has to really wake up in order to be able to look past all the fake drama.

Forget all the political rhetoric- it is all kayfabe. They do not hate each other. They don't see one another as an existential threat to America. They are not really enemies. They're barely even opponents.

One side will say their opponent is Hitler- coming to vanquish democracy and take everyone's vote and ruin the country. The other side will say his/her opponent is a communist dictator, come to do the same. But when the play is over the performers basically hold hands and bow, and then they might just go out and have a drink together- or attend a funeral.

They all pretend to be fighting against each other in defense of YOUR INTERESTS, when in reality they're on the same side, FIGHTING AGAINST YOU.
There are chosen and elected purely for the defense of the interests of oligarchy and empire.

I agree it is fitting that Obama was polite at Carter's funeral, I don't believe there is snowballs chanch in hell that DonOLD will ever call Obama at "a critical moment for America". After repeatedly calling Carter the worst president in history, until Biden came along, why did Trump even bother to show up at his funeral. All he did was fall asleep anyway. And in so many of the photos from that day, one of these was people was not like the others (everyone laughing/smiling except Trump, everyone holding their hand over their hearts except Trump). I think Michael Steele had it right yesterday on Morning Joe:

Skimmed all previous comments, and it appears that no one mentioned that Obama did not choose his seat, it was assigned seating in chronological order of presidency.
Clinton, and Hil, GWBush and Lara, Obama (Michelle opted out as she would have been next to Trump), then Trump and Melania.

VPs and their spouses (TIL that Gore and Tipper are separated but both were present) were seated around their Potus, also chronological.

Cheney was absent, but perhaps retired from public life.

Gal, please note I said the opposite of that. I said if Obama calls, Trump will pick up the phone. If that gives Obamaan opportunity to influence Trump during a "critical moment for America" then it is worth it. Obama is unselfish enough to realize that.
