Is Hegseth drunk?

#2 | Posted by Zed at 2025-01-14 10:40 AM

He thinks being defensive about everything in his past means he is qualified to run the Defense Department.

He doesn't even know what a JAG is.

#3 | Posted by donnerboy at 2025-01-14 11:10 AM

This has been way more "enlightening" than I thought it'd be. He seems unprepared and incapable of performing the job. I'm kind of stunned. He is, of course, a misogynistic, homophobic, anti-anything that's not white "christian" (as in crusader type) male.

#4 | Posted by YAV at 2025-01-14 11:19 AM

my god he's a fccking idiot.

#5 | Posted by YAV at 2025-01-14 11:59 AM

Cramer and Hegseth ... jeezus effin keeriest

#6 | Posted by Doc_Sarvis at 2025-01-14 12:00 PM

and so are the republicans - so far.

#7 | Posted by YAV at 2025-01-14 12:00 PM

Another Kavanaugh style rapist hearing. Great. He'll probably make it.

#8 | Posted by Alexandrite at 2025-01-14 12:01 PM

He will make it - and Tim Kaine left plenty of unexploded mines on the road for this buffoon to set off as he stumbles down the road.

Hegseth is a war criminal waiting in the wings.

#9 | Posted by Doc_Sarvis at 2025-01-14 12:04 PM

So he just said he'd ignore the Geneva Conventions.

#10 | Posted by YAV at 2025-01-14 12:05 PM

He is such an amoral worm.

One of the reasons I detest "christians" is they believe they got a "get out of jail free" card for this life and all they've done and what they will do - all because they believe they've been saved from eternal damnation once they die.

Tuberville.
Oh my god.
What an POS.

#17 | Posted by YAV at 2025-01-14 12:24 PM

Two lessons:

Man, these MAGA maroons will NEVER recover from the shock of Obama kicking their political butts.
They know next to nothing about history, replacing that knowledge with superstitious mumbo jumbo.

#18 | Posted by Doc_Sarvis at 2025-01-14 12:28 PM

Tuberville claims he worked at "a lot" of "woke universities."

He worked at Auburn, Mississippi, Texas Tech and U of Cincinnati.

Beyond buffoon.

He drugged and r--ed that woman - with her young children and a husband waiting.

Having "navigated" that, he seems to fit perfectly in any GOP cabinet.

#31 | Posted by reinheitsgebot at 2025-01-14 05:21 PM

@#14 ... Warren's ripping him to shreds. ...

Agreed.

I noticed that nominee-Hegseth has backed away from his prior comments (from a month or so ago) about women serving in the military.

His current comments sound more like he has been coached on what to say during the hearing, rather than any real change of his view on the topic.

#32 | Posted by LampLighter at 2025-01-14 06:49 PM

@#20 ... Tim Kaine made him look like a fool. ...

Based upon the parts I watched, that seemed to be an easy thing to do.

I will say, nominee-Hegseth is a slick speaker, and presents himself well.

But what he presents, I have issues with.

For example, when asked if he would use the military to shoot at civilians, he dodged answering, and he went off on a deflection.

Even when called on that deflection, and asked the question again, he simply refused to answer the question.

#33 | Posted by LampLighter at 2025-01-14 06:54 PM

All the above aside, the Republicans in the Senate showed few, if any, signs of opposing the nomination. The Senate Republicans seem to be falling in line, backing down, tail between their legs.

So, has Pres-elect Trump has shown his ability to break down the Constitutional Separation of Powers?

If so, that is A Good Thing - how?

#34 | Posted by LampLighter at 2025-01-14 07:39 PM

Has he ever had a real job? In real life?

Somebody should ask him how much he paid himself from those two charities for veterans that he left swimming in credit card debt and bankrupt.

I think we've seen this kind huckster movie before. He creates charities and pays himself handsomely from the public tete until it goes bust.

Then he decides to be a Republican politician. Not much different.

Hegseth also strikes me as the type of guy who lets a little bit of authority go to his head.

We all know the type.

#35 | Posted by Twinpac at 2025-01-14 09:10 PM

Hegseth was coached?

LOL ~ That's a given.

Can anybody picture this dummkopf running the Defense Department at a time of war?

Oh Good Grief!

#36 | Posted by Twinpac at 2025-01-14 09:28 PM

@#35 ... Somebody should ask him how much he paid himself from those two charities for veterans that he left swimming in credit card debt and bankrupt. ...

Pete Hegseth's Secret History (December 2024)
www.newyorker.com

... After the recent revelation that Pete Hegseth had secretly paid a financial settlement to a woman who had accused him of raping her in 2017, President-elect Donald Trump stood by his choice of Hegseth to become the next Secretary of Defense. Trump's communications director, Steven Cheung, issued a statement noting that Hegseth, who has denied wrongdoing, has not been charged with any crime. "President Trump is nominating high-caliber and extremely qualified candidates to serve in his administration," Cheung maintained.

But Hegseth's record before becoming a full-time Fox News TV host, in 2017, raises additional questions about his suitability to run the world's largest and most lethal military force. A trail of documents, corroborated by the accounts of former colleagues, indicates that Hegseth was forced to step down by both of the two nonprofit advocacy groups that he ran --Veterans for Freedom and Concerned Veterans for America -- in the face of serious allegations of financial mismanagement, sexual impropriety, and personal misconduct.

So, someone MAGA seems to currently adulate?

#37 | Posted by LampLighter at 2025-01-14 09:48 PM

LAMP

Sometimes Trump sends in the worst nominee to be rejected so the Senate would be loath to reject a second nominee which turns out to be the one Trump wants in the first place.

IOW, I'm think Trump might be pulling a bluff, much like he did with Matt Gaetz.

That wouldn't surprise me in the least. When it comes to hijinks, Tricky Dick had nothing on Trump.

#40 | Posted by reinheitsgebot at 2025-01-15 08:01 AM

Ugh of course this is the focus.

Not that he's never run a large organization of any sort.

Not that what he has run was poorly managed and bankrupted.

Not that he has the requisite experience to fully understand the myriad of topics needed to smoothly handle an organization as large and ubiquitous as the US military.

It's because he said some things about women...

Identity political crap has so f*&^ed our priorities, it's no wonder our country is circling the drain.

Women on the frontlines of combat IS a bad idea. Are some women qualified? Of course.
The problem comes when a woman is captured. Did any of you hate munger hang downs ever serve in combat?

Funny seeing all these moronic libs posting comments about a hearing that they either didn't watch or had the sound turned off. Tim Kane was especially entertaining since he acted so high and mighty about relationships with woman after campaigning with Harris and her husband, who impregnated his nanny and then beat another and of course palling around with Bill Clinton while Kane was the failed VP candidate.

I watched part of the circus. The grilling went from "women in combat" to "women in the military", two different things all together.

Pete Hegseth isn't a figure I'd want my kids to look up to for sure, but none of those ------- grilling him own even a postage stamp sized parcel of moral high ground either.

This one made me LOL for real:

Obama was magna cum laude at Harvard. "Community Organizer" is just a sly way for the far right to call Obama a "street agitator" or N word.

Hegseth is woefully inadequate in every conceivable way. Fox news bobble heads don't belong in government. The fact that he's also an alcoholic that rapes is icing on the ---- cake.
