MAGA Is Leading 'the Dumbest Imperial Collapse in History'

The American Prospect's Ryan Cooper has found himself utterly flabbergasted by the way that President Donald Trump and X owner Elon Musk are leading what he describes as "the dumbest imperial collapse in history."

Cooper's essay is spot on.
It's the stupidity, stoopid.

"nobody has matched this current downfall for sheer egregious stupidity"

To be fair, no one else had Trumpers to support them.

Thanks, Trumpism!

"sheer egregious stupidity"

Both intellectual and emotional.

Makes you wonder what MAGA is good for except occasionally smearing ---- on walls.

Another thread that the dips(*&s will avoid like the plague.

The Dotard-in-Chief has certainly accelerated America's hegemonic decline, like Nero or Caligula during the Roman Empire. China is the second largest economy in the world and spreading its influence in Africa, Micronesia, and SE Asia. Last year China opened a railway into Afghanistan and is building RR tracks in Africa. Beijing has probably lost less than 100 soldiers in the 21st century (border skirmishes in the Himalayas against India) while selling and testing weapons systems during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, profiting and learning at the same time. While the US wasted money and resources in Iraq and Afghanistan (the "forever wars"), Beijing invested in its space program and now poses a serious threat to US satellite systems. Thank you, Republicans!

Trump will grab a third rail soon enough and then be forced from office.

The country will recover faster than it did after the civil war.

It's not dumb. It's genius.

Putin's genius.

"Trump will grab a third rail soon enough and then be forced from office."

Who is waiting in the wings? Vance? Please. It's morons all the way down.

Regardless of who's sitting in the oval office, Musk is in charge.

@#7 ... Trump will grab a third rail soon enough ...

Yeah. I guess that depends upon one's opinion of third rail.

imo, he has already done so, and his party seems to be quite OK with it.

And, fwiw, I know well what the third rail is. Back when I was a kid, I used to go down to the train tracks, the trains that were powered by the 600 volts in the third rail. I was told never to touch that third rail. That I am still here and able to write this indicates that I took that advice seriously.

Now, fwiw, again, when I visit google's street view of the place by the train tracks I used to visit back in my youth, I notice that there is a fence preventing a curious kid from going on to the train tracks near that third rail..

@#11 ... when I visit google's street view of the place by the train tracks I used to visit ...

And, if I may proffer ...

Spend some time in google's street view.

Visit the neighborhood of your youth, walk along the paths you used to walk.

Look at the house you grew up in.

@#8 ... It's not dumb. It's genius.

Putin's genius. ...

I wish I could offer one (or any) argument against that assertion.

But, sadly, I cannot.

Pres Trump now looks and acts as Pres Putin's personal sock puppet.

Thanks for handing America over to the Kremlin and Felon Musk, Republican voters!

NATO incited them to Fight when they Knew they couldn't win.

How Sick is that?

Trump is Stupid and Destructive. He's not handling this well at all.

If the shooting stops it's still Good.

Not Great for Ukraine but Hey, Russia got Weakened for the Western Alliance.

Their Sacrifice so no Western Personnel had to Die is duly Appreciated.

I'm sure they feel just Fine Now.

Knowing how Helpful to NATO they've Been.

Imperial collapse? We're an empire now?

He's been president a month. He built an imperial kingdom and wrecked it in a month? The man's gifted.

re: #19...I fully expect Trump's quisling cabinet picks at Justice and the Defense Dept. to cover for him, should anyone have the temerity to drag Trump's Richy Rich hand puppet through court. It was glaringly obvious watching Musk bunny-hop around the stage when Trump first introduced him that Musk seemed quite keen to play the fly in our Chardonney. Some guys want to smash things just to show they can, ya' know? If Musk does wind up incarcerated, no one will be pleased more to be wrong than I.

And for today's specialty of the (White) house; we gut the entire military Joint Chiefs of Staff and JAG leadership. Rarely has collapse been this expedited or this public. And yet some of you fucking idiots still support Trump. Wow.

Good, we're a Republic, not an empire

#23 | Posted by THEBULL at 2025-02-21 10:14 PM

I scrolled up the thread and here is my report: Not a single one of those MAGA idiots had a single word to say because they can't now defend their idiotic belief in Donald Trump.

"The lesson is clear: America cannot be trusted, and all its former allies should start preparing for the worst, including developing their own nuclear deterrents in case of war with the U.S. itself,"
That's probably a good idea.
