I think that Trump expects Americans to eat these increased costs and not complain.

Better yet, not even mention them.

Typo corrected to: 'American consumers will continue paying a steep price for foolishly electing a Republican president on 5 Nov 2024.'

I didn't have enough of my ten dollar cup of coffee this morning and hence the typo.

I mostly go for Guatemalan coffee so will I still be affected?

You are correct no one will notice. Some because there is too much ---- on their plate already, some because they support it so even if they notice they won't say anything, and some because a 5% increase isn't really noticeable.

Higher coffee prices will cause REAL American's REAL wages to increase.

idk locally you could buy ground Pete's Coffee for $6.99/lbs, preCovid. Now even before the tariffs its $14.99. Since then, I have lowered my coffee intake, and have moved back to green tea. People will change/adopt different habits.

There is some truth to this, it will take time to get there. But this idea was supported by Lumpers during the Biden transient inflation. Now DialAgain thinks he's clever and changes his tune.

... Coffee Just Became More Expensive Because of Trump Tariffs ...

Coffee became more expensive for me a couple months ago when I failed to ~stocked up~ on pre-tariff coffee.

So, the item of coffee that I had been purchasing for a few years for $9.99, now is $12.99.

Whoa, I just checked the price online ...

Over $14 now.

I was randomly bought coffee whenever it was cheap and I have six kilos of coffee now lol. At ten grams a serving I hope to be able to make it through the midterms.

@#5 ... Higher coffee prices will cause REAL American's REAL wages to increase. ...

Will it?

My guess, at this point would be, yes.

But that seems to be the nub of why the Fed is so uncertain about the effects of tariffs upon inflation and the job market.

Will the effect of the tariffs be a one-time thing, or will wages then increase, subsequently raising the costs corporations face?

With a subsequent price increase to cover their increased costs?

Who knows for sure?

I certainly do not.

I just present opinions here.

"American coffee drinker consumes on average three cups per day"

Define "cups."

They're going to have to invent a new kind of inflation, reminiscent of stagflation, for what's about to happen.

Stagflation: Old, and busted.
Magflation: The New Hotness!

Define "cups."

I know my "12-Cup" coffee machine makes 4.

@#11 ... Define "cups." ...

More to the core of this issue ...

Define how much coffee is used per cup.

For me, and I do admit, I am not a coffee connoisseur, I prefer a good strong ground coffee.

But Arabica or Rosbusta?

Coffee Bean
en.wikipedia.org

... The two most economically important varieties of coffee plants are the Arabica and the Robusta; approximately 60% of the coffee produced worldwide is Arabica and ~40% is Robusta.[5]

Arabica beans consist of 0.8-1.4% caffeine and Robusta beans consist of 1.7-4.0% caffeine.[6] ...

What that Wiki article does not state is that caffeine is a bitter taste.

Caffeine
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caffeine

... Caffeine is a bitter, white crystalline purine, ...

So, when you go to Starbucks, you are likely to get a cup of Arabica coffee, because it is more flavorful. But, if you are looking for a caffeine boost, well, maybe dream on ...

On the other hand, if you are a fan of mass-produced commercial ground coffee, you are more likely to be experiencing the higher level of caffeine from Robusta coffee.
