I think that Trump expects Americans to eat these increased costs and not complain.

You are correct no one will notice. Some because there is too much ---- on their plate already, some because they support it so even if they notice they won't say anything, and some because a 5% increase isn't really noticeable.

idk locally you could buy ground Pete's Coffee for $6.99/lbs, preCovid. Now even before the tariffs its $14.99. Since then, I have lowered my coffee intake, and have moved back to green tea. People will change/adopt different habits.

There is some truth to this, it will take time to get there. But this idea was supported by Lumpers during the Biden transient inflation. Now DialAgain thinks he's clever and changes his tune.

Coffee became more expensive for me a couple months ago when I failed to ~stocked up~ on pre-tariff coffee.

So, the item of coffee that I had been purchasing for a few years for $9.99, now is $12.99.

Whoa, I just checked the price online ...

Over $14 now.

I was randomly bought coffee whenever it was cheap and I have six kilos of coffee now lol. At ten grams a serving I hope to be able to make it through the midterms.

Will it?

My guess, at this point would be, yes.

But that seems to be the nub of why the Fed is so uncertain about the effects of tariffs upon inflation and the job market.

Will the effect of the tariffs be a one-time thing, or will wages then increase, subsequently raising the costs corporations face?

With a subsequent price increase to cover their increased costs?

Who knows for sure?

I certainly do not.
