When was the last time you took an American history class?

I attended junior high school and high school in the 90s, and it was all pretty much the most glorious version of American exceptionalism we'd ever learned.

And we learned about slavery and plight of the Native Americans.

The real question is, why are conservative so against teaching this countries history.

Is it because you're tired of feeling ashamed for being a racist?

There is indeed a Black History Museum because Black History is a big part of our history.

Harriet Tubman's hymnal and lace shawl.
Nat Turner's Bible.
Emmett Till's original casket.
A Tuskegee Airmen trainer plane.
Chuck Berry's red Cadillac convertible.
Items from Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King.
Works of art by prominent African American artists.

And I don't see what is "dark" about any of those things.

Maybe bullbringer can trumpsplain it to us.

I like seeing it, it should front and foremost in peoples minds that the US had slaves. Many of them Irish, Chinese and African.

Some Americans hear about slavery and feel guilt and shame which they immediately channel into racism and bigotry. The usual cope for rtards.

Other Americans suffer because of the racism and bigotry that the rtards can't seem to be able to, or want to, move past. They do the same to the indigenous Americans.

Then there's some who think critically of American history, and realize we perpetrated a lot of human tragedy and exploitation to get where we are today, and that has consequences that we as a society aren't dealing with particularly well, and want to change that so "all men are created equal". You know, American values type stuff.
