President Donald Trump has launched an attack on the nation's museums for being "WOKE," specifically targeting the Smithsonian in all caps as "OUT OF CONTROL."

This country was built upon a solid foundation of religious intolerance, land theft, slavery, and ethnic cleansing with a quick nod to Enlightenment thinking.

When was the last time you took an American history class?

I attended junior high school and high school in the 90s, and it was all pretty much the most glorious version of American exceptionalism we'd ever learned.

And we learned about slavery and plight of the Native Americans.

The real question is, why are conservative so against teaching this countries history.

Is it because you're tired of feeling ashamed for being a racist?

Many times. And have never seen it all. And it is obviously not filled with just negative black history and "dark times"

There is indeed a Black History Museum because Black History is a big part of our history.

Harriet Tubman's hymnal and lace shawl.
Nat Turner's Bible.
Emmett Till's original casket.
A Tuskegee Airmen trainer plane.
Chuck Berry's red Cadillac convertible.
Items from Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King.
Works of art by prominent African American artists.

And I don't see what is "dark" about any of those things.

Maybe bullbringer can trumpsplain it to us.

I like seeing it, it should front and foremost in peoples minds that the US had slaves. Many of them Irish, Chinese and African.
