Trump: Nato Faces 'very Bad' Future If They Don't Help Him

Donald Trump says it would be "very bad for the future of Nato" if allies don't help secure the Strait of Hormuz - a critical waterway for global oil shipping. Aboard Air Force One, Trump also says he is speaking to "about seven" countries about "policing" the strait, adding that he "will remember" if they do not help

Former NATO SG, now FinMin of Norway, Jens Stoltenberg, stated that the attack on Iran was unlawful and that this is the position of Norway. He also commented on NATO as a whole and its survival of the Trump admin.

Article 5 of the 1949 North Atlantic Treaty specifically focuses on "an armed attack against one or more of them [the parties] in Europe or North America."

Like NATO did after 9/11.

NATO is a defensive treaty. They have absolutely no obligation to support or get involved in offensive operations.

He's on his own.

Which of his kids has volunteered to join the military to support this war? Oh... none of them? Big surprise. Republicans are such ---- cowards.

Biden had a child in the military, who was deployed to Iraq. If anyone is curious what not-a-coward looks like.

To be clear it isn't just about escorting ships thithe strait. It is a ships loading. It's about port facilities it's about oil storage and piping and pumping. Escorting ship will do nothing while hostilities are ongoing

The UK fought the post-WWII Malayan counterinsurgency without NATO. France fought the Viet Minh without NATO. LBJ had to forge the "Alliance of Nations" to fight North Vietnam and the Viet Cong. Iraq twice was a coalition of the willing.

The Korean War was legally a UN operation (albeit with the US in military command).

Only Afghanistan was a NATO mission because an ally was attacked and the legal mechanism of collective security was invoked.

But technically, the government of Afghanistan did not attack a NATO country on 9/11.

An outlaw band of mujahadeen guerrillas based on their territory planned and conducted the 9/11 attacks to the surprise of Mullah Omar.

No Pashtuns, Tajiks, Uzbeks, Hazaras, or Talibs participated.

Now we learn the drones Iran is firing are made in Russian factories, and Russia is giving them to Iran for use against us.

Why hasn't Trump taken Ukraine up on their offer to sell their effective, battle-tested tech to shoot down drones?

However, U.S. President Donald Trump has said the U.S. does not need Ukraine's help with downing drones.

Zelenskiy said that he did not know why Washington had not signed a major drone deal which Kyiv has pushed for months, and that he was unsure whether it would be agreed at all.

That's not hard, there's very, very few VLCCs that are American flagged.

A ship with non-Iranian crude transited the straight while broadcasting AIS location 36 hours ago. In the last 24 hours more ships are on the move. Yesterday a ship was hit by "drone debris" in a UAE port well South of Hormuz, not transiting the strait.

We seem to be indicating we're about to land 2500 marines on Kharg. If that happens there won't be Iranian oil going out at all.

Woodrow Wilson couldn't get the US Senate to ratify the treaty to join the League of Nations.

When, in the wake of 9/11, the US invoked Article 5 of the NATO Treaty - the only member nation ever to send out that distress signal - the other member states responded in defense of that member state (us).

For Trump, though, the litmus test is whether nations would just snap-to because he positioned himself poorly and with his characteristic stupidity for a war he started and can't finish.
