Donald Trump says it would be "very bad for the future of Nato" if allies don't help secure the Strait of Hormuz - a critical waterway for global oil shipping. Aboard Air Force One, Trump also says he is speaking to "about seven" countries about "policing" the strait, adding that he "will remember" if they do not help

Former NATO SG, now FinMin of Norway, Jens Stoltenberg, stated that the attack on Iran was unlawful and that this is the position of Norway. He also commented on NATO as a whole and its survival of the Trump admin.

Article 5 of the 1949 North Atlantic Treaty specifically focuses on "an armed attack against one or more of them [the parties] in Europe or North America."

Like NATO did after 9/11.

But this?

Uh ... no.

Maybe the Israeli Navy can hop on over and play? But nicer than with the USS Liberty (en.wikipedia.org), please.

Donald Trump was swaggering, sneering at these people just a few days ago. Now he's threatening them, BEGGING them for their help.

Donald Trump is mentally sick scum. Everything boils down to that.

Our resident MAGA are at long last starting that Back Under the Rocks Stage. Where they will stay dormant, like grubs, for some extended period of time.

It's not that they realize that they've done badly. Oh, no. They think that they have always been entirely right.

It's Trump who has failed them. Trump who wasn't the Second, Third, and Fourth Coming of Christ.

Like Trump himself, they never see themselves as the cause of disaster.

They're perfect.

That's pretty pointed.

Nato is saying clean up your own mess. I don't blame them at all after they way the "dump" treats his allies.

NATO is a defensive treaty. They have absolutely no obligation to support or get involved in offensive operations.

He's on his own.

Which of his kids has volunteered to join the military to support this war? Oh... none of them? Big surprise. Republicans are such ---- cowards.

Biden had a child in the military, who was deployed to Iraq. If anyone is curious what not-a-coward looks like.

Why does Trump need help with something he said we've already won.

The US is too scared to put in its navy, why would other countries?

To be clear it isn't just about escorting ships thithe strait. It is a ships loading. It's about port facilities it's about oil storage and piping and pumping. Escorting ship will do nothing while hostilities are ongoing

Btw this goes to a major media and pundit problem. They aren't framing it he issue correctly. Escorting will not solve the logjam only a ceasefire will

We weren't attacked. WE attacked and started a war.

Article 5 doesn't apply.

Lots of parallels between Trump asking Europe to bail him out on the Iran War and Fred Trump needing to run down to buy $3 million in chips at Trump's Atlantic City casino to keep it from going into default and losing its gaming license.

The UK fought the post-WWII Malayan counterinsurgency without NATO. France fought the Viet Minh without NATO. LBJ had to forge the "Alliance of Nations" to fight North Vietnam and the Viet Cong. Iraq twice was a coalition of the willing.

The Korean War was legally a UN operation (albeit with the US in military command).

Only Afghanistan was a NATO mission because an ally was attacked and the legal mechanism of collective security was invoked.

But technically, the government of Afghanistan did not attack a NATO country on 9/11.

An outlaw band of mujahadeen guerrillas based on their territory planned and conducted the 9/11 attacks to the surprise of Mullah Omar.

No Pashtuns, Tajiks, Uzbeks, Hazaras, or Talibs participated.

The U.S. and ME countries are expending large numbers of antimissile rockets to shoot down missiles and drones. Very expensive!

Now we learn the drones Iran is firing are made in Russian factories, and Russia is giving them to Iran for use against us.

Why hasn't Trump taken Ukraine up on their offer to sell their effective, battle-tested tech to shoot down drones?

Gulf states have expended large quantities of air-defence missiles to counter Iran's Shahed drones. Kyiv downs Russian drones every night using an array of weaponry including cheaper, smaller drones or jamming equipment.

Zelenskiy has said that the U.S. as well as countries from Europe, the Middle East and Africa has sought help from Ukraine on how to counter these attacks.

However, U.S. President Donald Trump has said the U.S. does not need Ukraine's help with downing drones.

Zelenskiy said that he did not know why Washington had not signed a major drone deal which Kyiv has pushed for months, and that he was unsure whether it would be agreed at all.

After imposing tariffs and belittling on our European allies, he expects them to help us per Article 5 in a war he started without us being attacked?

Trump's a POS, now dotard

dotard

noun: dotard; plural noun: dotards

an old person, especially one who has become physically weak or whose mental faculties have declined.

Donald Trump was swaggering, sneering at these people just a few days ago. Now he's threatening them, BEGGING them for their help.

That's been the story of his entire life.

Rape children, have Epstein write checks to pay off the victims.

Discriminate against minorities, have lawyers negotiate a settlement with the DOJ.

Bankrupt casinos, have lawyers get him out of financial responsibility.

Have an affair with a porn star, use a lawyer to write a check out of his company and deduct it on his taxes.

Attempt to overturn the election in 2020, threaten the GOP into creating a false narrative and letting him off the hook.

Steal classified documents, a maga judge he appointed slow walked the case and is now sweeping it under the rug.

The SCOTUS ruling he has unlimited immunity for actions as president.

Every step of the way in his life he has been shielded from consequences of his actions and crimes. Everything bad that happens to this nation is a direct result of not letting the trust fund victim of affluenza from facing consequences.

I've read reports that Iran has allowed several ships to pass through the straight of Hormuz, just not American ships.

No one could have predicted Iran would do that... no one in the WH, anyway.
