Another U.S. warplane, an A-10 Warthog attack plane, also crashed in the region at about the same time, and the pilot was safely rescued, two U.S. officials said. They did not say what caused it to go down. The plane crashed near the Strait of Hormuz, the officials said, but they did not specify in which country.
