Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Friday, March 29, 2024

"We are sacrificing time away from family and making more money in the private sector for the vanity of a few people (on both sides) that want to raise money and their media profiles," said one House Republican. "The vast majority of members came to make a difference. We understand the utility of posturing and politics for the goal of governing. That's not what's going on anymore though. The inmates are running the asylum," the lawmaker added.

The dysfunction of the GOP is fascinating to watch. This is a party that lacks unity, that lacks messaging and absolutely lacks any kind of solidified identity.

Biden and the Dems are polling horribly. A functional political party would bury them but the GOP may not only lose the WH but down tickets as well.

It's no secret that I think Dems are absolutely horrific on policy. But they are unified and know how to use and abuse the powers they have. The GOP is feckless and flailing.

Oh STFU. You're been asked again and again to point to ONE of the indictments you or I could get away with, and not worry about legal repercussions.

If anything, Garland has gone too soft on Trump, as have the judges even after Trump has DIRECTLY violated the court's orders.

Meanwhile, YOU'RE the one supporting a two-tiered system of justice, for not demanding Trump be jailed awaiting trial. God knows if either of us had stolen classified documents, lied about having them, avoided answering for over a year, lied when finally answering, forced lawyers to commit perjury, and enlisted others to obstruct justice...we'd be rotting in jail until the government deigned to give us a trial date.

But you're not FOR two-tiers, right? Then say it with me:

LOCK HIM UP! LOCK HIM UP!

Wasteful, vindictive, and vicious. Jordan has neither a spine, nor a moral compass. And that doesn't BEGIN to discuss the over 100 Republicans who voted NOT to certify, despite having ZERO evidence.

See that GOP you loathe? You built that. Every vote for enablers equals responsibility for the current GOP. It will take voting that crap OUT, even if it means voting for the other party.

Now Van Orden has joined hands with a band of House Republicans angling to knock Good off in his June primary by propping up his primary opponent, John McGuire " a tactic long viewed as a serious breach of protocol but one that underscores the bad blood within the House GOP.

GOP Biden impeachment witness sues Fox News co-host Tarlov

The suit, filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, alleged Tarlov "lied" last week when she initially claimed Bobulinski's legal fees were paid by a Trump super PAC. Her comments were made during a discussion on Fox News's "The Five" after Bobulinski testified before the House Oversight and Accountability Committee for its impeachment inquiry into President Biden.

After receiving a letter from Bobulinski's attorney requesting a retraction and apology a day later, Tarlov clarified her previous remarks on air, stating: "What was actually said during the hearing was that the law firm representing Mr. Bobulinski was paid by a Trump PAC. I have seen no indication those payments were made in connection with Mr. Bobulinski's legal fees, and he denies that they were." ...

Serious question:

"The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is an independent agency of the United States government tasked with environmental protection matters.[2] President Richard Nixon proposed the establishment of EPA on July 9, 1970; it began operation on December 2, 1970, after Nixon signed an executive order.[3] The order establishing the EPA was ratified by committee hearings in the House and Senate."

@#80 ... What he means is Joe Biden is a Communist. ...

Yup.

I find it interesting how the various aliases here give up their strategies in their comments.

Trying to associate Pres Biden with being a Communist.

So cute. Especially in light of the GOP's adulation of Pres Putin.

adulation of Pres Putin.

Well, Biden is Stalin or Mao.

#78. CAFE is a missions and consumption standards and was passed by Congress and NHTSA has a structured process to follow when CAFE is increased. Then the automakers figure out how to hit the number and meet demand at the same time. This is a simple diktat. Steam engines were driven out by market forces, not the government.

You must have me confused with someone else. I've never said that. If market demand results in 70% by 2032 ... all good. But we know that's not going to happen in 8 years. Not even close.

High-profile Republicans head for the exits amid House GOP dysfunction (February 2024)
www.cnn.com

...

House Republicans were shocked by some of the recent high-profile retirements announced by their colleagues, which have included powerful committee chairs and rising stars inside the GOP.

But given the miserable state of affairs inside the House right now, they also weren't exactly surprised.

"They've signed up to do serious things. And we're not doing serious things," said Rep. Ken Buck of Colorado, a conservative who is retiring after bucking his party on several key issues.

Rep. Don Bacon of Nebraska, a moderate who represents a key swing seat, pointed to his party's struggle to govern as driving the departures.

"When you're divided in your own conference, the joy of the job is harder," Bacon told CNN. "When you have folks on your own team with their knives out, it makes it less enjoyable."

And Rep. Carlos Gimenez of Florida, an ally of deposed former Speaker Kevin McCarthy, said this is not how he or many of his colleagues imagined life in the majority, saying, "I thought that some of our members would be smarter." ...

Rep. Mike Gallagher says he's resigning early, leaving House Republicans with thinnest of majorities
lacrossetribune.com

... Rep. Mike Gallagher, a Wisconsin Republican who has spearheaded House pushback against the Chinese government, said Friday he would resign from the House, leaving House Republicans with the thinnest of majorities.

Gallagher, age 40, announced he would resign his position on April 19. It will leave Republicans with a 217-213 majority in the House, meaning that they cannot afford to lose more than one vote on a party-line vote. The thin majority has already proved to be a challenge for Republican leadership and forced House Speaker Mike Johnson to work with Democrats to pass practically any legislation.

Gallagher had already announced he would not seek reelection. ...

Whoa..

Wait what?

Not only did Rep Gallagher announce that he would not run for re-election. He also announced that he will resign early?

No wonder our GOP troll farm seems to be so determined (working overtime?) to divert this thread's discussion elsewhere.

Yeah, at this point, I suspect your question will not receive any cogent answers.

And the reason may be...

Wait for it...

There is no evidence.
