But my main concern is that politicians, once they get elected into office, seem to forget the oath they took to support the Constitution, i.e., supporting their voters and not their constituents.

So, imo, it is not the binary politics, but the politicians who seem to abdicate the oath they swore to.

Stated differently, if a politician abdicates an oath they swore to, how much can you trust that politician?
