But i have to ask ...

What can a President actually do in the early days of office.

Stated differently, are these criticisms more politically based than reality based>

A President can project the appearance of security, stability, and maturity which will assure the general populous that a smooth transition is taking place from the old administration to the new administration. A President may have an agenda that incorporates change, but a good captain knows how to make a course correction without recklessly jerking the tiller. No one benefits from having a loose cannon on board.

In short, a President's job #1 is to be a leader!

@#4 ... In short, a President's job #1 is to be a leader! ...

I do not disagree with your comment.

But the comment talks about the image projected, rather than the solutions accomplished.

I will say that it is still too early to see the actual effect(s) that Pres Trump has upon the Country's air system, as a leader.

And, if I may say, based upon what I have seen so far, my current opinion is that Pres Trump will have a neutral- to negative-effect upon the Country's air system.

Why do I say that?

Mainly because he seems to place people ~in charge~ whose main qualification for the position is a fealty to Pres Trump.

...
(They you remember last week I promised to tell you today how to become a space cadet and get your official class ring and your shoulder patch? Well, we're not quite ready. Okay?)

Why have I always been a failure?
Why have I always been a failure?
Why have I always been a failure?
What can the reason be?

Talking to myself at stations
Slipping in the pouring rain
Ripped my new shirt
Pocket with a hole and
Chasing all the coins
Rolling down the drain
Everything you said was hazy
You called me sad, lost and lazy
Scratched my records and slapped my face
You left no clue
I'm blue

(I'm blue)

Why have I always been a failure?
Why have I always been a failure?
Why have I always been a failure?
What can the reason be?

Why? Why? Why? Why?
Why? Why? Why? Why?

Not to categorize all stepfather, I am sure many, perhaps most, greatly add to a family's sense of bonding and safety.

No. It isn't. And it is rare that an "accident" can be 100% attributed to one cause.

Most accidents are generally considered to be caused by a "chain of events," meaning a sequence of related factors or actions that ultimately lead to an accident, where one event triggers the next, culminating in the undesirable outcome

Not until the investigation is complete and the NTSB says it is.

Until then it's all speculation and conjecture.

I will wait for the report. The initial report has the helicopter readings at the proper elevation of ~200' and the CRJ at 325' +/- 20'. Since there was impact we know those numbers from the RJ's black box and other sources aren't accurate. Now the cause has to be determined.

One was a runway change and one was a change in the direction of take-off and landing on the same runway due to weather. The latter I will never forget, as our plane on approach to land had to make a hard right turn while a Virgin 747 that was taking off had to make a hard right turn. We were cleared to land from the South and they changed take off for the 747 to be from the North - putting us on a direct collision course on final approach. Trump claims it was DEI, which we already know is BS.

Liberals claim the crash was caused by the actions of Trump, which MAY have contributed in some small way. But the shortage of controllers was chronic.

I'm personally willing the wait for the conclusion of the investigation. But I think it's much more likely that this was caused by a series of errors on the parts of several individuals, and that none of the above had any serious effect on this accident.

I will say though that Trumps statement was one of the most partisan, divisive and inconsiderate messages I've ever seen from a POTUS, in the face of a tragedy.

series of errors on the parts of several individuals

To me most plausible scenario (based on current info) is the tower told the UH-60 to avoid the CRJ but they mistook a different aircraft (Airbus 319) to be it and never saw the CRJ in the first place.

The A319 was farther away but much larger, and with landing lights on in the direction of the helo would have been pretty distinct. The CRJ was maneuvering to line on the runway they were diverted to so the landing lights would have been diverted.

#72 - This is close to what I was thinking. Having flown in and out of that airport at night there are lights all over, towers, etc. Trying to determine visually what something is, its distance and size is not easy. That RJ is not a big plane, either, so the idea of an Airbus at distance appearing to be an RJ, at night, is completely reasonable.

Data from the jet's flight recorder showed its altitude as 325 feet (99 meters), plus or minus 25 feet (7.6 meters), when the crash happened Wednesday night, National Transportation Safety Board officials told reporters. Data in the control tower, though, showed the Black Hawk helicopter at 200 feet (61 meters) at the time.

The roughly 100-foot (30-meter) discrepancy has yet to be explained.

Even the DNC knows Democrats ca 2025 are totally lost and disrespected as a political party and have no following except the radicals of THE VIEW and DRUDGERETORT. Sad pathetic losers one and all that no one respects. Sad too what they've done to USA and Dems.

Liberals are so radical.

With our crazy ideas of national healthcare, education and treating others with civility.

Not sure what LZK stands for. But trolls are harder to kill than cockroaches.

They just show up with new usernames.

Take BootyHunter for example.

LZK was a poster here a long time ago that said she hated this place and it was a horrible place to be. RCADE gave her 24 hours to change her tune or she would get the boot. She didn't retract her statements so RCADE gave her the ole heave ho and that was the end of her here.

The rest of you said Trump caused it.

The rest of us said Trump's actions resulted in causing the accident.

Which, you agree with.

Trump's disruption to the FAA is fair game to be attacked.

Honestly. Your posts read like you were looking to argue for the sake of argument. Which. Is fine with me. I do the same at times.

"Which, you agree with."

Not necessarily. I said it's fair game to attacked. Blame. Finger pointing. Not the TRUTH necessarily.

I mean ... ... you have to care about the actual truth.

That's a rare attribute today. Getting more rare by the day.

I don't think it matters much in this case.

The race and gender of the people involved.

Very true. But all this blabbering about administrative airport staffing isn't all that relevant in this incident either.

The FFA is likely going to have to answer some uncomfortable questions before this is all over.

Understaffed, high stress jobs will cause problems.

The practice of seeing how few people it takes to do a job can have dangerous consequences.

Chronically understaffed and over-stressed since fmr Pres Reagan fired all them.

Looking Back On When President Reagan Fired The Air Traffic Controllers (August 2021)
www.npr.org

... Thursday marks 40 years since former President Ronald Reagan fired more than 11,000 striking air traffic controllers. That dealt a serious blow to the American labor movement.

STEVE INSKEEP, HOST:

In 1981, President Ronald Reagan faced a test.

(SOUNDBITE OF ARCHIVED RECORDING)

RONALD REAGAN: This morning at 7 a.m., the union representing those who man America's air traffic control facilities called a strike.

INSKEEP: The union represented around 13,000 people. And if you were on an airplane at the time, they were the most important people in the world.

A MARTINEZ, HOST:

Yeah, they sure were. The Professional Air Traffic Controllers Association (ph), PATCO, was protesting what they considered to be unfair wages and long work hours. They walked off the job. And two days later, on this day 40 years ago, Reagan fired more than 11,000 of those who hadn't crossed the picket line. And that dealt a serious blow to the American labor movement. ...

The practice of seeing how few people it takes to do a job can have dangerous consequences.

Also true. In this case, the understaffing problem was more of shift change issue than overall manpower.

From what I have read, normal practice at that airport was to run 2 controllers throughout the day and drop it to one controller for the night shift.

On the day in question, the change came an hour before the normal shift change time. So, the "not normal" part of staffing was for an hour, and not "normal" for the ATC staffing as a whole.

There will be a lot of focus on how this particular airport has been operated. Very heavy traffic. Very tight operating parameters. FAA has closed 2 runways and the helicopter corridor for the interim.

"Normalization of Deviance" is a common comment. As an example, automated radar "Conflict Alerts" are mostly ignored because they are so common. I read up to 25 per day. Nature of the traffic.

A shorter commute: Lawmakers, lobbyists argued over adding flights at busy Reagan airport
www.usatoday.com

... An intense lobbying campaign played out over the last two years over whether to allow additional flights out of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, the scene of the catastrophic mid-air collision Wednesday night.

The number of flights at Reagan National is capped because of its congestion.

But lawmakers have an interest in boosting direct flights to their states " for themselves and their constituents " because the airport is more convenient to downtown than Dulles International Airport, which is also managed by the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority. Ultimately, five new flights were approved last year but have yet to begin. ...

More convenient, over safety?

Certainly will be one of the questions. Airlines seem to have a lot of direct flights from that airport to VIP home cities.
