Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Sunday, March 23, 2025

Historically, Tesla owners have leaned heavily Democrat, with studies indicating that electric-car enthusiasts are four times more likely to identify as Democrats than Republicans. In a world where politics intersects with everything, even your choice of car can become a statement. Tesla, the electric car giant once hailed as the darling of progressive ideals, now finds itself in the throes of an identity crisis. With President Donald Trump and influential conservative figures like Sean Hannity stepping up to champion Elon Musk's embattled brand, one must wonder if Teslas will soon become the red state ride of choice. It's a peculiar twist of fate. The same electric car that once symbolized the liberal fight against climate change is now being courted by conservatives eager to show support for Musk, a man who has often positioned himself at odds with conventional liberal narratives.

Alternate links: Google News | Twitter

The strategic pivot by figures like Trump and Hannity is clear"they're attempting to swing the pendulum of Tesla ownership from blue to red.

However, as alluring as the idea might seem to some, the numbers suggest a more complicated reality.

I do not remember when he was a Democrat. Never was as fas as I can remember.
He took over Tesla, did some good things.
Now he's a POS destroying America.
You hated him, now you love him.

Everyone, including you, got "woke" about fElon.
Here's the diff:
You love the despicable POS now because he's shown his true colors. He's evil. We've seen his kind before. And THAT got you excited. Now you love him.
Sane empathetic people that gave him the beneift of doubt see who he is now and can't stand him. We recognize how utterly destructive and harmful, how repulsive, now evil he is. We've stopped supporting him.

Guess what that makes you?

This could be true, but my guess what they were strongly against was subsidizing it.

Its interesting, Elon's Tesla was lucky to get government subsidies to help climate change, now Tesla is hated. Proving for the right that Climate Change isn't a priority just and excuse to pass out money to friends and family.

"Well when why did Liberals give those people subsidies to buy those cars?"

Oh grow up. It's not always all about Elmo. Everything you do has consequences in this world.

Democrats promoted subsidies for all forms of green energy. Including Elmo's Nazi cars. And of course that was before Elmo came out as a full fledged Nazi.

Volkswagen cars also had a bad rep after WW 2.

They recovered and Tesla will recover. Eventually. Depending on the future choices of Elmo. Of course.

- Conservatism for young people is up

"President Donald Trump's favorable rating among Generation Z voters has dramatically fallen since the 2024 election, according to a poll.

A survey from The Economist/YouGov released Wednesday revealed the president's net favorability rating among those aged 18-29 is minus 18 points. This is a drop from the plus 19 favorable rating he scored among this demographic in the days following November's race."

It doesn't matter. You don't need to fake your amnesia. You're off the hook.

I remember Tesla owners taking great pride in the symbolism of owing one of those things.

If that pride had something to do with what they perceived to be the political identity of Musk and the executive leadership of Tesla then they deserve the pain they are in now. If it was about the car then they can move forward with no regrets.

You're 1 or the other. Get over it.

You keep lying and calling me a liar. So much projection on your part. You won't even cite where you get your information. You don't seem to comprehend English - at least not very well. Let me help you:

I do not remember when he was a Democrat. Never was as fas as I can remember.

This is a true statement. It is not ambiguous. I'm crystal clear. There is nothing in that statement that is a lie. However you called me a liar. Why? Because you then went on and flat out lied by saying:

He's always been a Silicon Valley Democrat, "somewhere in the middle, socially liberal and fiscally conservative." Which is you saying something as if it was factual. No citation. Nothing. Not a clarifier that it is your opinion or your recollection.

Here's a FACT for you: Musk has never been a Democrat. He was registered as an Independent and he gave money to whoever was in power to grease the skids. He claims he voted for Democrats until they became mean. That's the time Trump came along and he went full nazi. Mean ol' democrats ran him off, so he laughable says! The truth is he was never a Democrat and has never been a fan of democracy. He's an opportunist. And the right is his current target.
