Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, November 06, 2025

A year after Donald Trump's election win that gave him the key to the White House for the second time, many Latino Trump voters in Florida who sealed the state's status as a Republican stronghold are now questioning their decision.

The slate of Republican losses -- and the magnitude of Democratic wins in New Jersey and Virginia, especially -- suggest not just that the Democratic backlash to Trump has finally arrived, but that a key part of Trump's majority -- Latino voters --might not actually be loyal Republican voters after all.

He dropped 30 points in the voting this week.

Who could have foreseen that deporting legal residents and asylum seekers to gulags in south america and africa would have negative consequences? Anyone with half of a half of a brain.

Every time ICE shoots a woman in her back, shoots into a car full of children, disappears a legal resident without legal proceedings, raid schools and hospitals their anger grows.

Keep it up fat boy and you'll love 2027.

The way Republicans and Trump are treating people like peons, democrats will have another landslide this time next year.

Everyone dumb enough to vote for trump deserves exactly what they're getting. It's too bad the rest of us have to suffer along with the morons.

Don't know what they're bellyaching about. 75% of Cubans are repubs and they voted for the GOP candidate, and he is doing exactly what the GOP stands for.

I've never understood the latino community's attraction to Trump. It makes no sense to me.

10. Exactly. Same for Muslims and most other immigrant voters Trump hates. The men come from patriarchal cultures, and many are happy to watch the pain of women and others.

I could understand wanting less chaos in/near border towns, Bidens border was pretty upsetting.

Now FL Latinos are pushing the Amnesty button to keep their vote Republican.

Or maybe "pain" is too severe for Mr. Eberly, since we're talking about Republicans -- and God forbid we paint them all together. Plenty of Eisenhower Republicans or Rockefeller Republicans or Javits Republicans and Kansas farmer Republicans are still running around, wanting to just grow their crops and go to church and play golf.

Discomfort of women, downgrading of women, ignorance of women, wanting to elevate themselves against others . . .

The class divisions among the Latin communities which separate themselves according to national of origin with Mexicans at the bottom rung and Cubans at the top greatly reduces the political power of a minority easily divided by politicians who know which buttons to push. Finally now, Cuban immigrants are being treated like others coming here from poor Latin American countries which could change Florida from red state to purple or even blue. The Trump administration are bumbling idiots who are stupidly alienating a dependable voting block because their racism is a stronger motivator than their stupidity and I just hope they keep it up! Democrats have shown all nationalities of immigrants compassion and have opposed Trump's racist policies. If Republicans were smart and in touch with reality they would rid themselves of obvious White Christian Nationalists a/k/a Nazis such as Stephen Miller and his ilk but, if they aren't smart enough to do that, I wish them well in their slow spiral into obscurity.

Another theory is that they are also very religious. Mostly Catholics.

Latinos and Hispanics are twice as likely as the overall U.S. population to be Catholic.

This makes them very susceptible to believing in other tale tales like Trumpy's firehouse of nonsense.

Cubans think they are better than the other Latinos. American Cubanos of course, not those in Cuba or spread out in other Latin countries. The Venezuelans also vote for right wing scum but do not think they are better than the rest of their brown cousins for the most part from what I gather when I talk to them. The right wingers of all Latin countries think they are better than all of their brethren and think that 'Whitey' actually likes them. Boy those in the U$A are they in for a rude awaking in the coming months when they all get taken away by these ICE nazis. The worst of the worst is those Latinos that work for ICE and Customs. And, those black and Asian people working for the orange pig's henchmen are in for a shock when the goverment finally turns on them as just like what is a happening in Russia right now with the pro war bloggers getting taken away but Putler's fascist apparatus, they too will find out the hard way that the machine needs to be fed once it gets firmly established and will turn on them just because they are black or Asian.

A common approach that immigrants use to assimilate into a culture is to adopt the dominant value system; in this case, racism.

Oh, it's simple.

Candidate Trump promised to help workers.

See, simple.

Unfortunately, once elected, Pres Trump latched on to billionaires instead of workers.

I'm not yet convinced of that.

There is a whole year for Republicans to change their tune.

And a whole year for Democrats to, once again, fail at messaging.

And, fwiw, statements like "democrats will have another landslide this time next year" is not, in any shape manner or form, correct messaging.

Happy nightmare, baby
Happy nightmare, baby
Cause you're mine, all mine

We're gonna go for a ride
Gonna go for a ride
Down in the city tonight

Gonna be my baby
Will you be my baby?
Tonight, tonight

Our love is gone
Our love is gone
Into the night, into the night

Close your eyes, come along with me
Down into the bottom of the sea

Happy nightmare, baby
