US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has insisted that a proposed plan to end the Ukraine war, which has been widely viewed as favourable to Russia, was "authored by the US". It comes after a group of senators said they had been told by Rubio that the draft - which one said he described as a Russian "wish list" - did not reflect Washington's position.

So the US was aware that the world thought the document was US endorsed, yet waited until now to clarify that it wasn't? How could the US have communicated to Ukraine that they had to accept the proposal or lose US support without clarifying that the Russian proposal wasn't actually their proposal?

Trump allowed Russia to create this plan. I mean, just look at the thing. They were too supine, stupid, and lazy to do anything else.

God bless Ukraine. I think that they will continue to resist. There was a time that America would.

Russia knows that's in the Epstein Files, and I'm pretty sure that they have a copy.

Real simple solution to this war: the US "stores" a couple dozen cruise missiles and US fighter jets on Ukrainian soil and Ukraine promises to allow their removal in 10 years, unless they must use them first for national defense. The Russian army can then govern themselves accordingly ...

I remain to be convinced that such an insistence of being the author of this Ukraine surrender plan is A Good Thing for the US.

"US senators say Rubio told them Trump's Ukraine peace plan is Russia's wish list'
By Associated Press

"This administration was not responsible for this release in its current form," said Republican Mike Rounds from South Dakota, speaking at a security conference in Canada. "They want to utilize it as a starting point."

Rounds said "it looked more like it was written in Russian to begin with."

The senators said they spoke to Rubio after he reached out to some of them while on his way to Geneva for talks on the plan. Independent Maine Sen. Angus King said Rubio told them the plan "was not the administration's plan" but a "wish list of the Russians."
