... Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ordered the U.S. military on Sept. 2 to kill all 11 people on a suspected drug-smuggling boat in the Caribbean Sea because they were on an internal list of narco-terrorists who U.S. intelligence and military officials determined could be lethally targeted, the commander overseeing the operation told lawmakers in briefings this past week, according to two U.S. officials and one person familiar with the congressional briefings.

Such a list includes individuals who are eligible for being targeted, including with lethal action, if given the opportunity. The commander who oversaw the Sept. 2 strikes, Adm. Frank "Mitch" Bradley, told lawmakers that U.S. intelligence officials had confirmed the identities of the 11 people on the boat and validated them as legitimate targets, then the military launched airstrikes as part of President Donald Trump's military campaign against alleged drug-smuggling vessels, the U.S. officials and person familiar with the congressional briefings said. ...

USN Admiral Bradley testified to Congress behind closed doors the eleven victims were on an internal list of narco-terrorists who US intelligence and military officials determined could be lethally targeted. This detail was not previously made public. These XJKs are an intelligence "no-no," as interrogators can not debrief corpses. Moreover, these XJKs pervert the course of justice if these suspects were indeed suspected criminals and denied their day in court to fight the allegations.

The second strike on the boat was indisputably a clear violation of the laws of war and therefore a war crime, similar to Russian and Israeli military atrocities committed against Ukrainians and Palestinians.

Earlier this year Congress had an opportunity to impeach Dummkopf Trumpf for illegally attacking Iran, like these unlawful strikes, but House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) torpedoed the initiative.

Ironically, in 2016 second rate Faux News TV tumor Pete Hegseth repeatedly brayed about Dummkopf Trump issuing unlawful military orders. And last year Florida Attorney-General Pam Bondi sternly warned that US servicemembers should not follow unlawful orders, such as committing war crimes:

"Military officers are required not to carry out unlawful orders. The military would not carry out a patently unlawful order from the president to kill nonmilitary targets. Indeed, service members are required not to do so."

All allegations against USSECDEF Pete Hegseth and USN ADM Frank "Mitch" Bradley are mere insinuations or suspicions. To ensure a fair trial, all defendants or suspects are to be presumed innocent until they are proven guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt at an international tribunal at the ICC, court-martial, or by congressional impeachment.

@4 You said it.

After the unmitigated disaster that Trumpf wreaked upon the American people (and the world), we will need a combination Nuremburg Trial and Truth and Reconciliation Commission like Suid-Afrika undertook last century to right the American ship.

And an exorcist to evacuate any remnants of their malevolent auras from federal buildings and institutions.

The only thing we shrug at is onelumpofs*&^'s poor attempt at a whataboutism.

Meanwhile, that stupid sack of s*&^ says "what's the issue" in a discussion of a war crime.

Kegsbreath is a sociopath just like the rest of the administration. They are the worst scum this nation has to offer and have absolutely no business being in control of the military.

If you were an American living in America at that time Commie Spyboy you would know it was pretty controversial at the time.
And was resolved and adjudicated in Obama's favor.

But, of course, as usual it has nothing to do with the price of tea in Taiwan.

Obama relied on the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) and the President's Article II self-defense powers.

What legal authority is Trumpy acting under again?

They'll fall back on the AUMF. Tren de Aragua were declared narco terrorists.

Progressives and Liberterians held hands and pointed out to everybody that the AUMF allowed presidents to declare groups terrorists and start blowing them up with little to no oversight before it was passed. It didn't take long to get there.

It was absolutely NOT adjudicated in Obama's favor. Obama was never charged, never tried. Not that the current SCrOTUS would do anything about it since they ignored the constitution and decided presidents are immune.

No, war crimes aren't OK just because Obama did it. We have a LONG history of criminal presidents, and while the worst are obviously Rethuglicans, there's quite a few Democrats who are also criminal.

There's zero accountability for criminal acts by presidents, and that really needs to change. The office gets far too much respect and deference.

"Progressives and Liberterians held hands and pointed out to everybody that the AUMF allowed presidents to declare groups terrorists and start blowing them up"

Start blowing them up in accordance with the laws of war, rather than under the framework of a police action.

It's that "laws of war" part that is the issue here.
