Will this mean the dispensary will now be able to accept Credit Cards?

Inhale To The Chief!

(That was the name of the annual legalize pot rally in D.C. during the Clinton years.)

Cannibis should have never been classified at the same level as other Scedule Level 1 drugs,, a category reserved for illegal drugs such as heroin and LSD.

Is cannibus perfectly OK, imo, no.

Should it be used responsibly?

imo, yes.

At this point, I view alcohol and cannibis around the same level ...

That is, the problem is not necessarily the use, but the problem is the abuse.

"Is cannibus perfectly OK, imo, no."

Then you are doing it wrong.

No drug is "perfectly ok".. a person can die from a teaspoon of water.

Even drugs that can literally save lives can have negative side effects.

(See any drug commercial/ad for details.)

Cannabis works perfectly fine for me.

And no we are not discussing my personal medical conditions or why I use it. Suffice it to say it works for me.

"Will this mean the dispensary will now be able to accept Credit Cards?"

Excellent question. The answer should be yes. But we'll see.

Given that this exact issue is what was keeping the industry from opening proper banking, and payment accounts I would assume it should open the way for CC payment.

Given the laws forced payments basically under the table, big brother must have figured out they are missing out on tax revenue here.

I doubt it. The financial system would probably want more certainty than an EO to make such changes.

And, the abusers are a small fraction from those that take it responsibly. Least we should watch out for the abusers and don't let them ruin it for the rest.

I don't often have the opportunity to do something like this, but I have to give credit where credit is due...

Trump Signs Executive Order To Reclassify Marijuana As Less Dangerous Drug

Now it's still unclear if this is going to change the banking rules about how money is handled which is generated from the legal sale (on a state by state basis) of marijuana.

And we also need to note that during the Biden administration, Biden tried to do the same thing but failed to get sufficient support from his own party. With that in mind, Trump may find himself in that same situation since it may take an act of Congress to actually get this done.

Disclaimer: My support for this reclassification has nothing to do with any personal situation on my part as I've never smoked (except for some possible second-hand smoke) nor ingested any marijuana ever in my life, nor do I expect to start, because of something like this.

Could an EO legalize acid?

Why not?

I don't do it, but I don't know of anyone who has ever overdosed on THC. I would prefer my kids chomp gummies than slug back vodka.

I'll be upfront. I'm probably an alcoholic. If it weren't for my job, I'd probably be chewing gummies myself. But my job has rules against the use of THC. There are no rules against alcohol. And being upfront again, I don't think I'm that different from my peers. It's just the life we wandered into.

LSD is maybe the safest drug one could possibly do. It makes no sense that it is illegal.

It's funny watching liberals look for ways to criticize this. When the very people they voted for wouldn't touch it.

When you correctly see it as more evidence of Trump desperation, of course it's funny.

The next thing you know, Trump will be stealing from housing funds to send servicemen $1776 bribes.

You are not wrong. ALL of them could and should have done exactly this, ordered the DEA to reclassify it. Biden could have kept his promise by doing exactly this. But instead he slow walked the process, and handed it off to an agency that should not even exist, the DEA should be abolished.

Doesn't mean he's not still a loathsome piece of fascist excrement, doesn't mean it should be schedule 3 instead of being unscheduled entirely, doesn't mean the drug schedules should even exist. But it's a small step in the right direction.

It should have been done a long time ago. I think Trump went this route because this subject is always dead on arrival in the house. Hopefully the research is done properly and we learn more about the medicinal uses of MJ. I'm also not in agreement with what Texas just did to hemp products. None of it makes sense until you look at who's being paid off.

Biden could have signed an EO. Obama could have. Clinton could have.

Lewzer quotes:

"Why Is @BarackObama constantly issuing executive orders that are major power grabs of authority?"

"The country wasn't based on executive orders,"

"Right now, Obama goes around signing executive orders. He can't even get along with the Democrats, and he goes around signing all these executive orders. It's a basic disaster. You can't do it."

"LSD is maybe the safest drug one could possibly do."

The drug itself is not dangerous. Non toxic even. The toxic human taking it is the danger. It's dangerous to the unprepared and to someone who is not mentally stable. Which can lead to impaired judgment, dangerous behavior, self-harm, and long-term mental health problems. And taking it too often can wreck even the best minds. The experience is so intense it's helpful to have a spiritual guide at least until you get used to it.

Every policeman and politician should be given LSD in a controlled setting and then have to answer questions.

If a MLB pitcher can pitch a no-hitter on LSD, who knows, maybe it's right to say LSD is a performance enhancing drug.

No, the executive order only makes a request that the DEA and the DOJ start the process to reclassify marijuana as a Class III drug as apposed to its current status as a Class I. It's going to take time and it's also going to take some actions by Congress to make it as effective as many people are asking for, particularly when it comes to the banking aspects of this change, which if we don't get that, there's not much of an advantage to change the legal classification of just the drug.

Does not affect me one way or the other here behind the blue wall in California.

We have no problem standing up to Trumpy and his jack booted thugs. California just chased Trumpy's illegal jack booted thugs back to their barracks.

California successfully challenged the Trump administration in federal court, leading to an order for the National Guard troops federalized and deployed from the state (mainly to LA, Portland, Chicago) to return to Governor Newsom's control, ending unauthorized federal use for immigration enforcement, with a judge ruling the federalization and deployments illegal due to lack of state consent and exceeding presidential authority.
