Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, January 19, 2026

Eric Weiner: Gandhi and his methods are widely misunderstood. He was no pacifist. He was a fighter. He considered it "unmanly" to obey unjust laws; they must be resisted and with great force. Nonviolent force.

It's a hit piece.

It's not wise to try and judge him by today's standards.

Yes it's "weird" by today's standards He did not "force" them to anything. And it was not sexual.

It was a test of his commitment to Celibacy (after his wife died). Which he passed.

Now if you want some real juicy stuff do Thomas Jefferson and his sex slave.

And old man sleeping naked in bed with grandniece has been slightly frowned upon since the time of the Targaryens.

Yes, the guy was weird.

Mahatma Gandhi: A saint obsessed with temptation & bowel movement
[...]the first question he asked his female attendants each day was: "Did you have a good bowel-movement this morning, sister?" He himself spent 20 minutes on a close-stool twice a day and took an enema every evening. In pursuit of the perfect bowel-movement [...]

The whitewash of Ghandi and our Civil Rights Movement alike is that both achieved their goals through solely nonviolent means.

That's a lie.

The people in charge tell us that lie, to give the appearance of a society that can addeess all its grievances through committed dialogue alone.

You didn't even have to be drunk, or not recognize them.

The list of things Thou Shalt Not Covet includes your neighbor's daughter.

But it doesn't include your own daughter.

Ask any Christian they'll confirm.

"One's daughter (inferred from Leviticus 18:10)"

If you have to infer it, then it isn't expressly forbidden.

And the type of father who is going to use Christianity as an excuse to have sex with his daughter? Well, he's not big into inference.

He did not have sex with them.

"Most angering for me, was reading about the psychological and emotional trauma of the girls and women who he used for his experiments', which is what he called these incidents. The word psychotic' repeatedly came up in various documents with regards to these women's mental state. The women, most of whom were in their late teens or early twenties (not surprisingly, given he could have experimented' with the older women or even his own wife!) were repeatedly described as depressed and weeping, and seemed to be completely in his control. Besides this, some of the archival references lead me to believe that Gandhi may well have been practicing the traditional, historic form of Indian celibacy which hinges on one thing only " and that is control of ejaculation. Everything else is permitted.

"The "Missing" Daughter: Curiously, father-daughter incest is not explicitly listed in Leviticus 18, though scholars agree it is implicitly forbidden by the general rule against "near of kin" (18:6) and the specific prohibition against a woman and her daughter (18:17).

Penalties: Under Old Testament law, the penalty for many forms of incest was death (Leviticus 20:11"21)."

from the above link

daughters are 'near kin'

6 "None of you is to come near anyone who is his close relatives to uncover their nakedness. I am Adonai.

Incest is also forbidden in the NT:

It's a rotten shame how much evangelical Christianity ignores Christ's own proclamation of a "New Covenant," that His is the new way?:

Christians largely don't follow Leviticus's specific ceremonial and civil laws because the New Testament teaches that Jesus fulfilled the old law, establishing a new covenant centered on love, grace, and faith, not ritualistic obedience; the Levitical laws were for ancient Israel in a specific context, while the moral principles (like the Ten Commandments) are upheld through the lens of Christ's teachings. They believe Christ's sacrifice completed the sacrificial system and that God now relates to believers through the "law of Christ," emphasizing love for God and neighbor, rather than adhering to dietary rules, priestly duties, or purity codes.
So, why do evangelical Christians focus so much on Old Testament condemnation and so little in Christ's "New Covenant" of love, grace, and faith?

The paraphrase from one of the many writers commenting upon Gandhi sexually exploiting his vulnerable cult members troubles you? Because it reveals Gandhi to be a lech?

You must be of the same ilk as the GOPers who called out a girl as a hoor when she testified in Congress about David Koresh raping her at the age of 10.

Which is why Republicans hate education... people with more than a high school education tend to vote Dem, and they hate that.

This is one of the best short talks I've seen in recent years, and from someone whom I never knew was either funny nor this perceptive:

How the Elite rigged Society (and why it's falling apart)

by
age 12 children American children of
affluent kids are four grade levels
above everybody else

by University the
age rich kids are 77 times more likely
to go to university or to ivy league
university than kids from poor schools

in adulthood 54% of the people at Elite
workplaces went to the same 34 Elite
colleges

so we ended up creating a cast
system

people with high school degrees
die nine years sooner than people with
college degrees

people with high school
degrees are five times more likely to
have kids out of wedlock

people with
high school degrees are 2.4 times more
likely to say they have no friends

so we
created a cast system even though we
pretend to be egalitarian

Unfortunately, way too many of those faiths believe their way is above others. They have it figured out, and everyone else haven't.

You couldn't be more right.

I don't know how much of it materializes into how folks vote but I suspect it's significant.

and it's rooted in a religious faith....which means it's very hard to change those minds.

I still have a hard time understanding how anyone thinks there are any good guys among the leadership of either Israel or Hamas.

No good guys in this fight is what I have been saying all along.

... albeit the majority of victims are the Palestinian people. And many of the Israeli people think that, too.

It's really the terror surrogates supported mostly by Iran, and the far right Settlers supported by the Gov of Israel that are the problem.

We should demand a Mano a Mano Duel to the Death between Khomeini and Nuttyahoo, and hope neither survives.
