Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

I really took the time to look at this. It's hard to believe someone actually got paid to produce this. This does not benefit society at all. Unless you look at it to say it continues to divide the races or to keep the slavery chip on future generations.

History is anathema to rwingers... if it doesn't fit their agendas, it shouldn't be discussed.

What about the acknowledgement and understanding of our history angers you so much, and then why do you try so hard to seek it out?

#3,

I dont like using certain history to weaponize against today's races. While I understand your point about history, quite frankly there is NO reason to even have this type of article in today's society. The only reason would be to continue to hang the race situation on generations for whom that race situation doesnt apply. I just feel articles like the linked story serve no purpose but to continually divide the races and to keep the race outrage on the shoulders of subsequent younger generations. No one asked for that article. No one needs that article. It's like bringing this to the attention of a younger generation it doesnt affect, to say, "Arent you mad about what was done in the past"? All too often, the current generation blame's people in the current generation for what happened in a previous generation. So the younger people are looking for a way to "get their lick back" or to do "justice" for the prior generation. They also want to feel like they are "victims" of the prior infraction. That's the problem here.

I listen to the other side, unlike other ideologies.

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Ignorance being bliss and all.

If you want to pretend to be Boaz, don't write stuff like that. Boaz only listens to stuff he agrees with, and considers anything else to be fake.

And 5 syllable words? GTFOH.

What don't you like about the article you were told to hate?

Is it the interracial women or are you simply not a fan of history?

Honestly. I don't care.

Neither do you.

You only posted this article because some hateful propaganda source you feed from told you to be angry.

There's no way anyone accidentally stumbles on it.

What is JSTOR?
JSTOR is a digital library for scholars, researchers, and students of all kinds that provides access to more than 12 million academic journal articles, books, images, JSTOR collections, and primary sources in 75 disciplines. JSTOR is part of ITHAKA, a not-for-profit organization that also includes Ithaka S+R and Portico.

IOW a scholarly article

What "boazrepuked" is advocating for is the suppression of research and education

Not surprising 1 bit

The fascism is a little to spot on for me though

Documents thoughts, behaviors and atrocities.

Of course those running from accountability hate this.

Knowledge scares Trump supporters.

They prefer their ignorance, fear and hate.

"How does this article benefit society?"

It educates people about the history of racism in our society.

How does that harm society?

#14 | Posted by snoofy at 2026-04-10 12:16 PM | Reply

I love articles like this. Truly enlightened and intelligent people are harder to manipulate with propaganda. Learning how to read and understand articles like this and being comfortable studying the issue and learning about it, surrounded by the biased propaganda, it's part of being an intelligent and wise person.

You can't do it in a vacuum.

In other words, if you can't stand an article like this, it probably just means you're a dumb ass

#15 | Posted by eberly at 2026-04-10 12:17 PM | Reply

Dumbass is putting it kindly.

The only dumbasses who have a problem with this are racist dumbasses.

#17 | Posted by boazreborn at 2026-04-10 12:22 PM | Reply

How does that harm society?

It keeps racism at the forefront to inflame later generations.

I already explained that.

What "boazrepuked" is advocating for is the suppression of research and education

What? Because I actually read scholarly articles?

There's no way anyone accidentally stumbles on it.

No, I actually read what the "other side" puts out. And I use my own judgement to judge is applicability.

What don't you like about the article you were told to hate?

I wasnt told to hate it. I actually read it and the linked resources. I then used my own judgement to decide my opinion about it.

If you want to pretend to be Boaz, don't write stuff like that. Boaz only listens to stuff he agrees with

Then you didnt know Boaz, or listen to what he was saying...

#18 | Posted by boazreborn

And what's wrong with that?

You seem to be saying we should hide the truth from future generations because the truth might make them realize things they didn't know and were kept hidden from them.

You are saying the truth harms us.

That's what makes you a racist. Trying to hide our racist past, who does that help?

Only racists -- the liars who say our society wasn't deeply racist -- could benefit from that.

How does talking about 9/11 harm society?
It keeps Muslim terrorism at the forefront to inflame later generations.
#18 | Posted by boazreborn

So we should just forget 9/11 then?

How does talking about My Lai harm society?
It keeps American terrorism at the forefront to inflame later generations.
#18 | Posted by boazreborn

Question:
How'd you manage to come back even stupider?

#22 | Posted by snoofy at 2026-04-10 12:38 PM | Reply

You arent listening Snoofy.

Most progressive outlets present material like this to enflame others. When most blacks are getting over racism, and understanding that the 20's to 60's style racism no longer exists, they usually cease to be a puppet of the Democrat/progressive ideology. Continuing to present this material as if it affects blacks today is what's wrong. Making today's blacks think they are a victim of this mode of thought is what's wrong.

Truly enlightened and intelligent people are harder to manipulate with propaganda

This is false, in-fact what you outline is referred to as the egotistical trap.

I would argue that is America more educated than it was 30yrs ago. More people with college degrees etc etc.

Are Americans more or less manipulated with propaganda? Is the Democratic party more or less educated, intelligent than the Republican party?

If so then why do people here constantly fall for propaganda like contextomy? anon sources?

I can't imagine the propaganda needed to change "intelligent" peoples that the killing of their own citizens is justified because the country needs to allow anyone/everyone to come into their country.

The bottom line is smart people are often better at rationalizing their decisions. If a manipulator (MSM) successfully aligns a proposition with the target's existing beliefs or values, the intelligent person may use their cognitive power to justify why going along with it is the "correct" or "logical" choice.

So we should just forget My Lai then?

Are we still in the Vietnam war? No? Then why make "research" on it like it happened yesterday?

Keep it in history class like everything else.

You found out about this website and this specific article somewhere on social media and you've been upset about it ever since.

And I do see your point, Snoofy,

BUT,

Reporting the past and "researching" the past and then making a general statement on that past is two different things.

Rumination is a symptom/sign/cause of depression.

Would the world be a better place if?

A. People got along in the present with no rumination on the history of all the "terrible past sins that have been rectified".
B. People constantly were reminded the "terrible past sins which have been rectified".

This doesn't mean we blindly move along with without a historical context, just does the average person need a constant ruminating of the past sins which have been rectified?

Or would it be more unifying to have a positive image of the countries past, even if it glosses over some of the "terrible past sins that have been rectified".

In China we don't ruminate over the cultural revolution which was much more atrocious and savage than slavery. But it is taught and even in our modern writing, but there isn't a weekly reminder and divisive message.

If you want unity, its not going to happen constantly ruminating on "terrible past sins that have been rectified".
If you want disunity then continue ruminating on "terrible past sins that have been rectified".

The trumpers seem to be making the argument we should ignore history because bad things happened and it makes them feel uncomfortable about themselves.

The GOP really is the pro ignorance party.

Hopefully OneTrumper writes a few more paragraphs no one will read to really emphasize how ignorant he really is.
