Traditionally, the simple solution was just not to actually go to war with Iran.

Yup.
Pres Obama took a different approach.
Negotiation.
And involving Russia, China, the EU in those negotiations with Iran.
The result of those negotiations was that Iran agreed not to develop a nulear weapon, and also agreed to onsite inspections.
Iran signed a treaty, not only with the US, but also with China, Russia, and members of the EU. Will Pres Trump accomplish that with his current war?
Yet, Pres Trump tore up that treaty and allowed Iran to enrich its uranium.
So, now Pres Trump seems to be trying to resolve a ~hornet's nest~ problem that he actually caused.
Will his eventual "solution" be better or worse than the treaty he tore up?

I personally believe that Trumpy's just pumping up the stocks in preparation for the big crash to come. Once he and his buddies are all ready and have their stocks positioned correctly he will let it fall.

Not ironic enough. He's saying it's open and closed at the same time. Iran can't close it, we closed it!
Four cruise ships that were trapped there formed into convoy and made a run for it successfully.
An Iranian ship named Touska has allegedly tried to run the US blockade and was disabled and captured by an American destroyer. That needs more confirmation, right now it's just social chatter.

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), known as the Iran nuclear deal, is a 2015 agreement between Iran and the P5+1 (US, UK, France, China, Russia, Germany) plus the EU to limit Iran's nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief. It mandates strict monitoring of enrichment, heavy water production, and inspections to prevent weaponization.
