The number of troops killed during the Iran War dropped from 18 to 14 on Thursday on the Pentagon's website. Officials gave conflicting reasons for the change. The New York Times is reporting that anonymous sources say the number dropped because four deaths happened after Trump had declared a ceasefire.

From the article:

"Since the cease-fire collapsed, the Pentagon has provided little information about the American military strategy and has been slow to release information about troops' injuries. The last major Pentagon briefing on the war was in early May."

The Defense Department has said that disclosing Iranian strikes on bases where U.S. troops are housed would compromise operational security.

The Pentagon withheld information about three Iranian strikes last week in Jordan that injured dozens of U.S. service members and damaged several helicopters, according to several U.S. officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss operational matters.

After an Iranian strike in Jordan on Friday killed three soldiers, the Pentagon's chief spokesman, Sean Parnell, acknowledged that the number of U.S. military casualties since July 7 had risen to nearly 100.

Defense Department officials say they are bound by law to report troop deaths, but not injuries. Critics, including Democratic senators, say the Trump administration is obligated to inform the public about the conduct of the war.

Trump really isn't good with numbers - a few suckers zapped here, some more losers blasted there, machts nichts - as long the money keeps rolling in.

And for the edification of any of this creature's apologists, these numbers represent people - so stop helping him ---- all over their memories.

They are already doing election interference here, too, in this manner.

If this Iran situation is a "war"

Was Bill Clinton at war with Iraq during both terms in the 90s?

It's not a war, it's a special military operation.

Testosterone-infused MAGA like them some wars, but are shit when it comes to defining one.

When you are proud and confident in what you do, then finding the words to describe it is easy.

The United States is at WAR with Iran. Repeat that ten times slowly to yourself while remembering that Donald Trump started it all on his own, the defining act of a tyrant.

The number of troops killed during the Iran War dropped from 18 to 14 on Thursday on the Pentagon's website.

Maybe they came back to life.

Anyone consider that?

Operation Zombie is in full effect.

So...those four dead soldiers literally don't count. Tell that to their families, to their fellow troops, and to the 100 members of the House and Senate who are veterans, and to the American people asked to pay for this clusterfcuk. Well, I guess you did...

This is vintage Trump.... if you don't like the outcome, ignore the rules.

Same with Elections.

The cover of the June 27, 1969 issue of the widely-circulated LIFE Magazine directed readers to a photo feature: "The Faces of the American Dead in Vietnam: One Week's Toll." Inside, on a series of pages laid out much like a high school yearbook, readers found the names and faces of the 242 US service personnel killed during a one-week period. (See 1960sdaysofrage.wordpress.com)

Those photos really shook-up a lot of readers up about the Vietnam fiasco.

Because the photographs moved beyond lists of names or, worse, columns of numbers by showing faces we instantly knew were something both different and more than numerals or letters. These were clearly the visages of formerly living human beings so recently sacrificed on the altar of what and why. Those photos personified the war in ways that eclipse the power of numbers and names alone.

The regime wants you to put the recent dead and wounded and those yet to come into the blender of historical forgetfulness and flick the switch to "11."

Trump doesn't count the deaths of any soldiers who got killed during a cease fire.

As usual, it's not his fault. Like a spoiled 2-year old, nothing is ever his fault.

On X, Pete Hegseth wrote "Their sacrifice will not be forgotten". I responded with "You'll have forgotten all about them by the time you wake up tomorrow".

They didn't forget about them the next day. They remembered to erase their deaths so everybody would forget. The Trump administration is beyond disgusting.

As usual, it's not his fault.

It's Biden's fault. If Biden had started the war, Lewzer would not have had to start it.

There is no excuse for this. None.

It's simply a dishonest attempt to rewrite reality, as Trump does every waking minute.

"Vietnam was the first war ever fought without any censorship. Without censorship, things can get terribly confused in the public mind."

Not surprisingly, people associated with wars gone off the rails exhibit a strong tendency not to want to talk about the subject, other than by lying. And in a sense Westmoreland was correct: a lowering/breakdown in restrictions provided Americans with a partially open window onto the war they were buying with their votes, treasure, and children's lives. (My only caveat about Westmoreland's observation is the fact efforts to bury information continued, e.g. My Lai. But I get his point.)

Interestingly, the Pentagon's most recent press briefing on Trump's Iran War was on May 5, eleven-and-a-half weeks ago.

The same month - on May 26 - Trump was at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for another one of his "routine checkups," he visited other troops but not the 14 recovering from injuries they've sustained in his war.
