... More voters would be more likely to support a democratic socialist candidate than a Make America Great Again supporter or a candidate endorsed by President Donald Trump, the CNBC All-America Economic Survey found.

The findings may allay concerns of centrist Democrats, who have been worried about the leftward shift of primary winners in 2026.

The poll indicates that even with a number of self-described democratic socialists on the ballot, Democrats will have the upper hand heading into November's midterm election, which is widely viewed as a referendum on Trump.

Capitalism remains more popular than socialism in the U.S., the poll found, but has declined in public sentiment in recent years as socialism has gained. ...

So, it seems that voters do have a concern about socialism, but they also seem to have a larger concern about MAGA and, therefore, the current GOP.

...The appeals court noted that the North Carolina Legislature "requested data on the use, by race, of a number of voting practices" -- then, data in hand, "enacted legislation that restricted voting and registration in five different ways, all of which disproportionately affected African Americans."

The changes to the voting process "target African Americans with almost surgical precision," the circuit court wrote, and "impose cures for problems that did not exist."

The appeals court suggested that the motivation was fundamentally political -- a Republican legislature attempting to secure its power by blocking votes from a population likely to vote for Democrats....
