Trump has long claimed that the nation's capitol was a violent cesspool -- and that his National Guard policy fixed it. New reporting disputes that.

Trump's decision to keep the National Guard deployed in DC until January 2029 comes with a hefty price tag--costing taxpayers roughly $1.4 BILLION.

Hi Corky

This is a preamble to martial law, as Americans are becoming accustomed to seeing armed soldiers in our capital and other locations.

Where the ARNG doesn't deploy, ICE Sturmabteilung will.

This is a technique used by JFK during civil unrest in some southern states where Dixiecrat governors couldn't contain the violence. To avoid the appearance of another "Reconstruction," but wanting order restored, USAG RFK deployed DUSMs.

See, not uniformed soldiers:

Sure it is.

It is placating the child that is playing with his army men.

Yes, it is. It's just not anything pro-America, decent people would think it's purpose is.

At the very least, it's conditioning the people to seeing them around regularly and it's conditioning the guard to be used to unconstitutional deployments.

I live a few train stops away from DC, and we'd like to ride the train up to go walk around, but I'll be dipped in ---- and French fried before I go there just to walk out of the station to see the goddamn National Guard.

Nonsense. It's keeping the homeless in the suburbs... where they belong.

My daughter is there now. She said it's not too bad...and she is staying pretty close to Union Station.

8. When she's just walking around, is there a federal police presence that isn't typical for our nation's capital?

If the DC civilian government did its job they wouldn't need to be there.

Instead they lied
13 DC police officers placed on leave following probe into allegedly manipulated crime stats

Whats typical??

There's a 53% drop in motor vehicle theft and a 37% decrease in theft from automobiles, there has been 23% less property crime in DC from 2026 to 2025, according to police data.

Though violent crime remains a problem.

Finally you can tell the people that have never travelled, all over the world there is military presence in the streets of large cities because overly liberal cities let criminals run wild in the streets. They don't fix the problems of their citizens who are paying the taxes.

People would rather see a police/military presence, and fountains and statues clean, than burglars and thieves, and paint all over their statues, the fact that this is controversial is just a sickness. People defending the destruction and deterioration of its parks, statues and fountains is the oddest thing to me. They'll proclaim they love America, and complain when things are cleaned up. Just incredible.

My guess this is just political animosity and whining, over the other side doing this. If it was Biden it would proclaimed as the greatest clean up of DC in a Century.

Love your country regardless of who picks up the trash.

If it was Biden he would have been impeached, with democrats crossing over to help the effort.
Try as you might, you cannot convince a thinking person that both parties are exactly the same. Democrats took out Al Franken for allegations that were never taken to court, or investigated.
Republicans voted for a felon three times who has been accused of Sexual Assault by at least 25 women.

The parties are different.

You're just admitting what a PoS you really are...

Unfortunately, today's righteous slayers of statues, and their official abettors, are likely to continue their wrongheaded and destructive crusade, not least because it is one of the only ones they can win. Unable to rectify the actual, and tragic, race-related problems that afflict the United States, they seize upon low-hanging fruit, chasing substitute "victories" that are little more than virtue signaling.

That virtue signaling has a civic cost. As I walk by the empty spaces where Early Days and the Christopher Columbus statue and the Francis Scott Key monument once stood, those gaps appear as mute testaments not to social justice and racial progress but to self-righteous folly
