WASHINGTON " Hours after a judge ordered that President Donald Trump's name could not be added to the Kennedy Center building or grounds without Congressional approval, the board voted to close the arts venue, according to the president.

The board was set to vote on two draft resolutions, one regarding a possible shutdown of the arts venue and another directing that President Donald Trump's name be placed back on the outside of the building. However, late Monday night, the board decided to just focus on the financials and construction when it met Tuesday.

Hours before the meeting, Federal Judge Christopher Cooper ruled that those possible plans to close the Kennedy Center and add Trump's name to the arts venue violate his initial ruling.

"Justice Department attorneys say they will file by Friday to lift the injunction blocking the closure. President Trump also says they will seek an expedited appeal over the use of his name.

Until a judge changes the existing order, the board's vote does not give it legal authority to close the Kennedy Center."
