This is effectively the strongest test of Americans' commitment to democracy that we have ever faced and unfortunately our Supreme Court decided in favor of allowing mega-rich donors, like Musk, to spend such huge amounts that it's nearly impossible for candidates dependent on small donors to compete. Here in Florida, the Republican running for Governor had seven times the amount of campaign funds as did the Democratic candidate which completely destroys the concept of "one man one vote". According to the Supreme Court "money is the same as free speech but if one side has so much more money then their message is heard continuously and their opponent's message barely heard at all!

Only Zucc and especially Musk are censoring Democrats, on their respective social media platforms.
Only Musk (that we know of so far) is bankrolling spoiler candidates with dark money.

But you don't care about any of that that.

MSGT's post about rich donors supporting Democratic candidates is true and,as such, the amounts of their donations pale in comparison to the Republican donors like Musk and others who buy news networks so they can control what news reaches most voters.
MONEY IN POLITICS is perhaps the most important issue we need to deal with if we care about democracy!

When it comes to election spending:
Musk has spend more on the 2026 Midterms than Soros has spent in his entire life.

Yup. The MAGA cult often likes to point to the Soros donations, usually with nothing how those donations pale in comparison to the donations by Mr Musk and other MAGA aficionados.

And then there is the Trump admin apparently helping (with the aid of Middle East ~friends~) the purchase of major networks).

The usual degradation of the commenters on this most august site seems to have missed the mark.

Right wingers had better never ever sneeringly utter the name of George Soros.

Mush has donated more money to Republicans in the last 2 years than Soros has donated to Dems in his entire life.

The Supreme Court said that money is speech and corporations are people and Delaware is looking at certifying that a company of AI software can be declared independent and so no human can be sued it that AI goes off the rails.
At least I think that is how the courts are ruling, have ruled.
Rich Ai is far more important than poor citizens in this Trumpified world.
