Some people are more pragmatic, some people are more principled.

One of the few books I didn't read but saw the film was The Boys from Brazil (1978).

At the end of the movie, the pragmatic young Nazi hunter wants the list of cloned Adolf Hitlers from the elderly Simon Wiesenthal-type Nazi hunter who painstakingly compiled it.

When the elderly man played (by the immortal Laurence Olivier) asks the younger man what he was going to do with the list of 88 or so clones, the younger man says he and his organization will eliminate them one at a time to prevent another Holocaust (AKA XJK).

The principled elderly Nazi hunter asks, "What, no trial, no examination, no mercy?" [sic]

"Nope."

Trumpf junta apparatchiks want the names of Jews at a university and HHS wants to compile the names of autistic children into a database.

Indeed. And we have already suffered our Kristallnacht with ICE in Minnesota and Texas.

I served during Vietnam. I think a draft is a good idea. Why? Because once Senators and Congress people's children and family are required to go into battle and start becoming casualties, they will consider war from a different perspective. Right now congress has NO skin in the game.
As for VA funding, it should be dollar for dollar. If you are going to give a Trillion dollars to the bomb makers, they should be taxed at 90% to support the war effort. No more "War for Profit"!!
Then we give the VA the exact amount of funding as the bomb makers to care for our warriors once their broken bodies and corpses come home.

Two Puerto Rican brothers (one a US Army Ranger; the other a medic) I worked with in NYC before I enlisted; then the DIs at boot camp, then a Special Forces NCO and an ASA NCO who commissioned and became a US Army Captain.

What do both of these issues of supreme national consequence for the American people have in common?

I believe what you see playing out in the media here and with Tucker Carlson's interview with Mike Huckabee are the Israel-first elements fighting the America-first elements and vice-versa.
