Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Sunday, February 18, 2024

In 2017 Google, Meta and then-named Twitter promised to do everything possible to stop election misinformation and propaganda from spreading on their platforms. In May 2023, Elon Musk withdrew from that alliance and it shows.

Propaganda is pretty easy to spot and smack down with facts.

Facts have never ever changed your mind. Not once as far as I can recall.
You are proof as to why propaganda is so potent and powerful.
You are ignorant and willfully remain so, even denying the power of propaganda.

In case you aren't aware of the meaning of the word "Propaganda" I thought I'd post it:
information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote a political cause or point of view: he was charged with distributing enemy propaganda.
the dissemination of propaganda as a political strategy: the party's leaders believed that a long period of education and propaganda would be necessary.

Propaganda can be at its most effective when employed through demagoguery, by targeting someone that's less powerful and turning them into the enemy so as to form a bond of hate in a group of people. Jews, Palestinians, Blacks, Hispanics, Gays, or the flavor of the day; transgendered.

The state of Florida is engaged in a massive campaign to create and indoctrinate it's population through propaganda. We even have a new program to teach 5 year olds all about threat of communism. I guess they do that while teaching them how to tie their shoes?

I wonder if Florida will ban "X" over this? {snicker}

Coming from someone that's a member of the party of banning books, pronouns, black history (the actual history, slavery's true impact, racism, and intersectionality), women being allowed to be full humans, the right to have a choice in reproductive health, the right of a company to include diversity and embrace it, laws meant to intimidate educators - and on and on.

United States Intelligence Community targeted 26 Trump advisors for foreign spy agencies to "reverse target" and "bump"

multiple credible sources tell Public and Racket that the United States Intelligence Community (IC), including the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), illegally mobilized foreign intelligence agencies to target Trump advisors long before the summer of 2016.

The new information fills many gaps in our understanding of the Russia collusion hoax and is supported by testimony already in the public record.

Are you good with this, Yav?

" On March 2, 2021, senior Biden White House official Andy Slavitt emailed Amazon and asked who he could talk to about "the high levels of propaganda and misinformation and disinformation of Amazon." He had searched "vaccines" under the books section and said he had found the top results "concerning."

Amazon did not act in compliance with Biden's implied commands at first because book censorship would "further compound the Harry/Sally narrative," referencing its then-recent removal of Ryan T. Anderson's book criticizing transgenderism called When Harry Became Sally from its stores, and said not to "do anything that is visible and will draw more attention."

Ironically, Amazon later claimed, "As a retailer, we provide our customers with access to a variety of viewpoints, including books that some customers may find objectionable," and therefore could not submit to Biden on the COVID-19 issue.

At least that was their stance until Amazon members were called to a pre-brief discussion with the White House on March 9, 2021, during which they suspected that the Biden administration was "asking us to remove books." That same day, they caved and decided to "enable Do Not Promote for anti-vax books whose primary purpose is to persuade readers vaccines are unsafe or ineffective."

On March 12, 2021, Amazon members discussed a meeting to take place the following week to "reduce the visibility" of "books related to vaccine misinformation" because the prior White House meeting made them feel "pressure from the White House on this issue"

Propaganda is a communication intended to change others' opinions (and consequently their actions).

Propaganda comes in two flavors

1- Rational Propaganda supplies an assertion based on purported fact; i.e. "Our product is objectively better"

2- Irrational Propaganda is an emotional appeal; i.e. "Our product will make you feel better" or "Our product will help you attract women"

Virtually every communication most people receive is propaganda. It's advertising.

disinformation | dsnf'men |

Do you have a clue what the DOH's Disinformation Governance Board was created for?

The board was quite simple and anodyne. What it wanted to do was to coordinate among the Department of Homeland Security's components - agencies like FEMA or the Cyber and Infrastructure Security Agency or Customs and Border Patrol - and make sure that Americans had trustworthy information about issues connected to homeland security.

BTW - DeSantis hired a disinformation agent for the surgeon general of Florida. DeSantis then appointed cronies to ensure disinformation was pushed throughout the educational system in Florida. DeSantis then created a military organization that reports only to him. DeSantis then removed attorney generals in districts that didn't push his disinformation and replaced them with loyalists that would. He did the same thing with Disney. He also purged the AP Black History classes and then mandated the White-washing of Black History. He banned drag shows, created a law to go after bloggers that dared post things contrary to what he liked.

Seriously, what do you need to know to understand how utterly corrupt and dangerous your party has become?

Yav,

I'd like to shift gears a bit.

I despise the fact that Fox acted as a propaganda outlet for Trump. I think that's dangerous to our democracy.

On that same note (MSNBC is the flip side to Fox but with a much smaller audience) I despise the fact that the big 3, NYT, WaPO,
CNN, and various versions of large city print media are slightly watered down versions of Fox for the DNC and left wing cultural causes.

I'm alarmed by how many old school liberal journalists with well documented records of accomplishment have been pushed out of corporate media outlets.

I often point out that trust in our news media is at all time historic lows. I also point out that it's 100% self inflicted.

Where I fail is upon introspection I think pointing that out comes across as gleeful. That is not the case at all. Now more than ever we need the 4th estate. It makes me sad and scared that they are failing so badly at doing their job.

I want to amend this statement. I want to remove "slightly" from "watered down". What Fox did was unprecedented and it's not fair to the left leaning outlets to claim they are nearly as bad.

Fox isn't even the worst - not by far.
What you cite as antipodes to Fox aren't that at all. Not even close.
MSNBC does not propagate lies. It is biased, it has a perspective, but it does not propagate lies for a political agenda. Lies like the Big Lie. Lies about everything all discrediting our election system and our institutions. MSNBC does nothing even remotely similar to what Fox does. MSNBC hasn't been forced into a nearly billion dollar fine for defamation.

What you are doing is trying your best to create an equivalence where one does not exist.
You have to do that so you can feel good about what your side does, I presume.
You have to make "both sides" equivalent. Both wrong. Both the same.
They aren't.
Not even close.

As far as the trust in media goes, that has a lot to do with Fox and right-wing propaganda outlets, and Trumpers.

You may not be gleeful, but you buy the lie. It works for you. It fits your confirmation bias.

Oops. Looks like I missed this false equivalency assertion between age restrictions, like on voting and driving, and government censorship affecting everyone.

So, let's address it: Age restrictions is why certain types of content can be broadcast after 10PM.

However, there are also certain types of content which the government forbids being broadcast over the public airwaves at all hours of the day.

And you support that. Most everybody supports that.

So when you say you opppse all censorship, you are simply lying.

However, everyone in this discussion understands that you can't be more specific about the censorship that you oppose.

Instead it needs to loom over the discussion like some DeSantis Boogey Man.

The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, and our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of ... . It is they who pull the wires that control the public mind.

When I came back to the United States, I decided that if you could use propaganda for war, you could certainly use it for peace. And "propaganda" got to be a bad word because of the Germans using it, so what I did was to try and find some other words so we found the words "public relations".

"Please point to the criminality."

Are you joking?

How about you point out why, as an American, you didn't mind being lied to by team Trump over 100 times?

If there was no collusion, it wasn't for lack of trying.

Oh that's right: you've refused to read the Rubio report, for fear of losing some of your precious talking point lies.

The only one clinging to anything is you.

Trump is guilty of all sorts of bad things. Criminally colluding with Russia isnt one of them. You've swallowed the lies of the Obama holdovers.

Probably why he's getting his ass kicked in court all the time.

What a riot. You've purposefully kept ignorant by refusing to educate yourself. You won't answer why it was OK for Trump to lie to America, and you refuse to do things like watch the J6 hearings or read the Rubio report, clearly for fear of losing your access to your lies.

You built that.

Huh?!? You're upset regarding a lie about Trump, but not upset by hundreds of lies BY Trump???

Admit you're a partisan hack without using those specific words.

Holy guacamole!

It looks like one of them there manifestos the magacrazies post just before another mass shooting.

In this case I guess we could just call it a mass shouting. Thankfully.

Propaganda is pretty easy to spot and smack down with facts. Today's left are such censorious -------.

IF that were true trump wouldnt have been elected. All trump's propaganda has been smacked down by facts and his cult doesn't care.

Please give us your innocent explanation for how trump ended up with a russian asset as his campaign manager, out of everyone in the world he could have picked.

Plausible explanations only.

I can accept Trump's obvious connections to Putin.

But that's not good enough for some.....they want every republican in office right down to city council to be attached to Putin as well.

which only hurts the real case of collusion between actual colluders, such as Trump and several members and former members of his staff.

So if republicans are defending and protecting a russian asset, what does that make them?

And why did all those republicans ask for pardons from trump for after his coup failed?

The steele dossier was a collection of rumors, true and untrue. It was not the beginning or backbone of the investigation. Trump choosing a russian asset as his campaign manager would be enough for any agency to investigate.
