Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Saturday, March 02, 2024

President Biden is struggling to overcome doubts about his leadership inside his own party and broad dissatisfaction over the nation's direction, leaving him trailing behind Donald J. Trump just as their general-election contest is about to begin, a new poll by The New York Times and Siena College has found. With eight months left until the November election, Mr. Biden's 43 percent support lags behind Mr. Trump's 48 percent in the national survey of registered voters

As I have previously stated, it was foolish of the Democrats to wage the type of war that they have over the last 18 months on Trump. The focus should have been on kitchen table issues. With affordability of food and every day goods reaching sky high prices; forgoing the economy in the name of a score to settle wasn't the best move.

At this point, it seems the Biden campaign is hoping that these early polls are less representative of how people will actually vote, and more representative of people ~making a statement~ to the pollsters. (similar to the "uncommitted" in Michigan recently)

I am not buying that excuse. For starters it seems to show a complacency on the part of the Biden campaign.

I'd say that the Biden campaign has a rather significant hill to climb.

I'm expecting to see the start of something substantial in Pres Biden's State of the Union address next week.

Otherwise my current 60-40 in fmr Pres Trump's favor may become 70-30 in fmr Pres Trump's favor. ...

It does have 2016 feel.

The New York Times/Siena College poll of 980 registered voters nationwide was conducted on cellular and landline telephones, using live interviewers, from Feb. 25 to 28, 2024. The margin of sampling error for the presidential ballot choice question is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points among registered voters.

330 Million people and these two are the best candidates this country can come up with?

Something isn't right about our whole system.

Both Senile, both rabidly pro Israel.

Nothing worth voting for.

Trump wants to destroy Social Security and Medicaid. He wants to dismantle the regulatory agencies. He wants to corrupt our government for his own ends.

That's ample reason to vote AGAINST him.

Biden is Too old and too dumb, but on domestic policy he's infinitely better than Trump could ever be.

Almost any Democrat would be. So that's not much of an endorsement.

All the passion is on the Trump side. 80 million Losers want him, Enough to turn out no matter what.

This election comes down to turnout.

How many will stay home because they can't support Genocide Joe?

That's the Conundrum.

Find another candidate or America is Toast.

Comrade Bluewaffler will be stunned stupid again when Dark Brandon beats Trump in a blue tsunami. He'll cry "fake news" and "rigged election" for another 4 years.

It will be awesome!

If you believe the polls you're a moron.

Yup. If true and it comes to pass then we will have met the enemy and it is us!

The whole world a waits the results of our elections with bated breath. Some countries don't even bother to wait. Some try to put a finger on the scales in their favor. Which is ok to the party getting that foreign help. Apparently.

Yup. In the end we will get the government that we deserve. But does the world deserve what it will get ?

The DNC wants give to give us the choice between Trump and Genocide Joe.

No other candidates.

I'm staying home, millions of people Who can't vote for lesser evil will too.

Why not find another candidate instead of Joe Biden? AOC will be old enough.

I would rather have a young anti genocide candidate than an old Genocide enabler.

Rashida Tlaib is old enough, better a young Palestinian American than Genocide Joe.

Even Gavin, "selective minimum wage", Newsom, is better than Genocide Joe.

You know who is worse? Trump.

But not much.

Find another candidate or Trump is coming back.

Biden won't win...it's 2016 all over again.

Israel wants Trump too. Bibi loves him.

That is such a sad sentence. The fact that Trump has even one person willing to vote for him at this point says volumes about the people in this country.

Putin probably chuckles himself to sleep about how easy the American public is to manipulate.

Buttery Males in 2016. Order Hamas (via Iran) to slaughter a thousand civilians in 2024.

And up comes Trump smelling like roses.

Voters are under the mistaken impression that Trump was good for the economy... contrary to reality.

"Mr Trump, like many Republicans before him, focused his economic strategy around a massive tax cut for corporations and the nation's wealthiest people, which some economists argue did little to actually aid in overall economic growth."

www.the-independent.com

"Donald Trump's primary appeal continues to be that he built a great economy.

But data shows that Donald inherited President Obama's great economy and built nothing. Moreover, Trump's economic legacy is defined by his failure in leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic that exacerbated a financial downturn.

Donald's economic policies also left the middle class behind. His 2017 Tax Cut and Jobs Act provided major tax breaks to corporations and wealthy individuals.

This was beyond ironic for a presidential candidate who campaigned in 2016 on being the champion of the working class.

Trump's tit-for-tat trade war with China cost the U.S. economy 300,000 jobs and American firms lost $1.7 trillion in stock value.

Trump took every opportunity while campaigning to tout gains in the stock market. The Dow Jones soared by 56 percent during Donald's presidency. It climbed 73 percent under Obama and 105 percent under Clinton."

Voters are under the mistaken impression that Lewzer give the tiniest bit of a ---- about the economy or anything else other than himself and his personal grievances.

I have friends who are "making a statement" during the primaries.

Most realize the Republican Party would be much worse.

But, not sure everyone realizes how destructive the next Trump presidency will be for America.

Unfortunately, it appears that the same voters who sat on their hands in 2016 because the Dem candidate wasn't perfect back then may sit on their hands again in 2024 for the same reasons.

And get the same results.

#16 | Posted by Corky at 2024-03-03 10:25 PM | Reply

#16, how badly do you want to lose this election? Keep blaming the portion of the electorate who didn't agree that your candidate was entitled to their vote in 2016, and you're definitely on the right track.

#17 | Posted by sentinel at 2024-03-03 10:30 PM | Reply | Funny: 1

You use this word, "entitled". I don' thin' you know what it means.

That's a word you use, not I. And because you really have no argument, apparently.

The better reason would be that one candidate was the lesser evil.

And the greater evil is still out there.

If this is too difficult a concept, then perhaps we deserve the greater evil we get.

Biden is being smeared as a corrupt politician, similar to what happened to Hillary in 2016. The problem for Trump with the 2024 election is that he's actually being prosecuted for crimes, some of them suggesting he's corrupt.

Yeah nah there's a complete difference in the demographics this election.

Men choose Trump
Females choose Biden

There's an evolutionary reason.
