Kamala Harris said that she has agreed to debate Donald Trump on September 10. In May, the campaigns of Trump and President Joe Biden had accepted ABC News' invite to debate on that date, in what would have been their second match up after the CNN event on June 27.

"Harris told reporters today, "You have been asking me about the debate and I'll tell you I'm ready to debate Donald Trump. I have agreed to the previously agreed upon September 10 debate. He agreed to that previously. Now, here he appears to be backpedaling, but I'm ready, and I think the voters deserve to see the split screen that exists in this race on a debate stage, and so I'm ready. Let's go."

There has been no official word on whether Trump will still accept that date. He has lately said that he would debate Harris, but wants to do so at a Fox News hosted event. He has been bashing ABC News as biased against him."

.

If Lil' Donnie doesn't run away from this debate... she should show up in a Hannibal Lector mask and offer to eat his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.

Or break out a Land Shark outfit.

Since when has a one-on-one with Trump been called as a legitimate policy "debate?"

Trump campaign won't commit to debates with Harris yet
thehill.com

... The Trump campaign said Thursday it would not agree to a general election debate with Vice President Harris "until Democrats formally decide on their nominee" after Harris said she was ready to debate the former president.

"Given the continued political chaos surrounding Crooked Joe Biden and the Democrat Party, general election debate details cannot be finalized until Democrats formally decide on their nominee," Trump communications director Steven Cheung said in a statement.

Cheung claimed there "is a strong sense by many in the Democrat Party ... that Kamala Harris is a Marxist fraud who cannot beat President Trump, and they are still holding out for someone better,'" citing former President Obama's lack of endorsement to date, though Obama is expected to back Harris publicly soon.

"Therefore, it would be inappropriate to schedule things with Harris because Democrats very well could still change their minds," Cheung said. ...

So, the Republican Party seems to be afraid of committing to debate the Democratic nominee, whoever that may be.

So lame. And weak.

What is the Republican Party afraid of?

"What is the Republican Party afraid of?"

The host, ABC

And perhaps real-time fact checking.

"So, the Republican Party seems to be afraid of committing to debate the Democratic nominee, whoever that may be."

Um, the GOP already had a debate that was 100% on Biden's terms.

Also, it is very common for the 2 parties to haggle over debate rules. What was unprecedented was the GOP agreeing to debate Biden 100% on Biden's terms.

Well, regarding the former, they already had agreed to that. And now a change of candidate seems to be a huge concern for them. (Why might that be? Have they been caught off-guard by strategic planning vs tactical, transactional planning?)

Regarding the latter, the host is the host. The Republicans had agreed to the host.

I'll ask again, What is the Republican Party afraid of?

It sounds like a dodge but the Trump campaign is demanding FOX as the host. So I'm going to stick to my assumptions.

The Trump campaign seems to think that a change at the top of the ticket justifies a whole new agreement.

As I said, it sounds like a dodge ~ unless Harris agrees to FOX where Trump thinks he'll have the advantage with loaded or softball questions with no cutoff for talking overtime.

I will say that I may not disagree with them in that regard.

OK, that aspect aside ...

Why does the Trump campaign think that?

What are they afraid of, that they now seem to want to change the venue for future debates?

Has VP Harris being moved to the possible Presidential candidate slot given the Trump campaign so much angst that they are afraid of a debate between VP Harris and an aging fmr Pres Trump?

All of the above. But the real motive is Trump isn't prepared to debate Harris. He's just trying to force her into a position so it looks like she's the one backing out, not him.

This is a gimmick he's tried before. It's trap. And it might work. Harris would be foolish to do battle with Trump in his own backyard. And there's certainly nothing neutral about FOX. They've been lambasting Harris since the announcement. Ted Cruz called her "garbage." And FOX cut off her speech because, they said, it sounded too much like a campaign rally.

If a debate must be, I hope Harris demands that both sides stick to the original agreement. And then let Trump be the coward that we all know he is.

So I guess I was right. Harris called Trump's bluff. CNN announced that Trump has backed out of the debate, calling Trump "A scared little punk."

How stupid of Kamala, at least her logic. Trump never agreed to ANYTHING with Harris so for her to be spreading misinformation like this just goes to show liberals aren't any better than Trump. Trump had all of his rhetoric directed at Biden. And considering Trump didn't back out of anything yet and said let's wait until everything is settled, that's smart leadership. I guess Dems have gone so long without having good leadership in their party they forgot what it's like to actually wait to know all of the details of something before making decisions, which is how any person in charge of any decision should be.

Have you noticed then that the only men Trumpanzee allows into his exclusive palace are eunuchs?

I have a feeling Trumpanzee is in meltdown mode just as he was after the election when he had his temper tantrum and he trashed the White House throwing things against the wall... crying and screaming... after which he had to be medicated and quarantined at the golf course until he finally calmed down... then Joe Biden was sworn in and he started up again... all because he can't control himself.

He agreed to debate Biden on September 10. Biden is no longer the nominee and Harris isn't the actual nominee yet.

The Trump Biden debate has been cancelled by Biden. So now, once Harris secures the nomination the 2 teams will negotiate a debate (or 2?) date as well as rules for the debate. Once Harris secures the nomination, I will gladly join in calling Trump a coward if he refuses to debate her.

Democrat big wigs purposely set up Joe Biden to take out his legs when he needed them most. Then they schemed to literally take out democracy itself by using a known incompetent Secret Service Chief to allow assassination of their political opposition.

More idiotic statements from the village idiot (probably relayed directly from the idiots at Fixed News)

Biden was not the nominee when Trump "debated" him.

She is the presumptive nominee. Just like Biden was at the time.
